Yes, passengers may eventually be able to stream Xbox games through a car’s infotainment system—but the announced Microsoft–LG integration does not yet establish which vehicles support it or when it will launch. The plan puts the Xbox app on LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP) in select internet-connected vehicles. Passengers would need an eligible vehicle and system, a compatible Bluetooth controller, a Game Pass account that supports the service, and an automotive data plan.
How the announced in-car Xbox setup is supposed to work
This is a planned integration with the vehicle’s infotainment system, not a promise that a console will be installed in every car. LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform would host the Xbox app in select connected vehicles. A passenger would open the app, sign in, pair a compatible Bluetooth controller, and stream games over the vehicle’s supported internet connection. Xbox says an automotive data plan is required to access streaming services.
That means several conditions must line up: the vehicle must have LG ACP, the Xbox app must be enabled for that system, the vehicle must have supported connectivity and data service, the controller must work with the installation, and the account and game must be eligible for cloud play. The announcements do not say that an ordinary connected car, an LG television, or a phone hotspot is sufficient.
Which cars support Xbox Cloud Gaming?
The September 9, 2025 announcements from Xbox and LG describe the experience as coming to select vehicles, but do not name supported makes, models, countries, or a retail launch date. Xbox’s September 29, 2025 roundup still described it as “coming soon.” The cited official announcements therefore do not establish a current list of eligible cars or confirm present availability.

LG said it aims to supply its webOS-based ACP to 20 million vehicles by 2030. That is a company target for the platform, not a count of vehicles already equipped with Xbox Cloud Gaming or a guarantee that all ACP vehicles will offer the app.
What passengers need
- An eligible vehicle: It must use LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform, and the Xbox app must be available on that vehicle’s system. Confirm both with the automaker or vehicle documentation; no model list is established in the cited announcements.
- A compatible Bluetooth controller: Xbox specifies a compatible controller, but does not certify one universal model for every vehicle installation. Check the car’s compatibility information before buying a controller for this use.
- Connectivity and an automotive data plan: The vehicle needs supported internet access. Xbox says an automotive data plan is required to use streaming services; the announcements do not name a provider or state the cost.
- An eligible account and game: The original announcement specifically described Game Pass Ultimate access. Check the in-car app’s current plan requirements and the availability of the game you want to play.
Which games and Game Pass plans are included?
At announcement, Xbox said Game Pass Ultimate members would have access to hundreds of games and that subscribers could stream select games they already owned. The companies named examples including Forza Horizon 5, Gears of War: Reloaded, The Outer Worlds 2, Bugsnax, Don’t Starve, Mafia: The Old Country, and DOOM: The Dark Ages. These were examples in the 2025 announcement, not a guarantee of a current in-car catalog. Microsoft’s general cloud gaming guidance says titles, features, and availability vary over time and by region, plan, and platform.

Microsoft announced on September 3, 2026 that monthly cloud gaming hour allowances included with Game Pass plans would change beginning in November 2026:
| Plan | Announced monthly cloud gaming hours |
|---|---|
| Ultimate | 15 hours |
| Premium | 10 hours |
| Essential | 5 hours |
These are the announced general plan allowances, not confirmation that each tier will work with the vehicle integration. Microsoft said further details about pricing, additional hours, eligible games, and market availability would follow. The car announcement named Ultimate, so verify the current in-car requirements rather than assuming that every cloud-gaming plan is supported. See Microsoft’s September 2026 update for the plan changes.

Is it safe to play while the car is moving?
The companies frame the feature as passenger entertainment, including during a road trip or while waiting at a charging stop. Xbox says its services operate in compliance with driving safety regulations. This is not an invitation for the driver to play: use the feature as a passenger, and follow the vehicle’s restrictions and local road-safety rules.

Because vehicle eligibility and rollout remain unconfirmed in the cited announcements, do not plan a purchase or trip around the feature until the automaker or Xbox confirms availability for the exact vehicle and market. Once it is listed, check the infotainment system’s app availability, controller compatibility, data-plan requirements, supported Game Pass tier, and the catalog available in your region.
