You can officially download streaming shows on a Mac with the Prime Video app and the Apple TV app, when the title and subscription allow it. Netflix does not list Mac as a supported download device, and Disney+ says computer downloads are unavailable. For those services, download to a supported phone or tablet instead; a browser, screen recorder, or third-party downloader is not an official substitute.

Download Prime Video shows on a Mac
Amazon supports offline viewing through the Prime Video app for macOS. Install and open the app, sign in, and find the movie or series you want. Amazon’s requirements include the Prime Video app for macOS; a web browser is not the documented download route.
- Open the Prime Video app on your Mac and sign in.
- Find the title you want to watch offline.
- For a movie, open its detail page and choose the download option.
- For a series, choose to download a season or open the episode list and download individual episodes.
- Open the app’s download area to play the saved title while offline.
Amazon advises against saving Prime Video downloads to USB-connected drives. Downloaded playback through Chromecast or AirPlay is not permitted, so plan to watch directly in the app on the Mac.
Download Apple TV shows and movies on a Mac
Use the Apple TV app and sign in with the account that has access to the title. Downloads are available only when the title and any associated channel permissions allow them; availability can also differ by region.

- Open the Apple TV app on your Mac and browse or search for a show, movie, or event.
- For a movie or event, click Download. For a TV episode, open More and choose Download.
- To find saved items, go to Library > Downloaded.
Apple’s published guidance says most Apple TV channel downloads are available for up to 30 days, while some expire sooner. For certain subscription titles, the download expires 48 hours after playback starts or 30 days after downloading, whichever comes first. Apple also notes that download limits can apply. Those limits and dates are not a guarantee for every title: check the item in the app and the applicable channel rules.
Can you download Netflix shows on a Mac?
Netflix’s current download instructions list Android phones and tablets, iPhone and iPad, Amazon Fire tablets, and Chromebooks with Google Play Store. They do not list Mac as a download device. Netflix directs users to download eligible titles through its app and watch them from Downloads while signed in.

If you need Netflix offline, use a supported device such as an iPad rather than expecting a Mac download. Not every title is downloadable; Netflix says downloads expire after a period of time and are available on the device used to download them. Exact device and title availability can depend on your country.
Can you download Disney+ shows on a Mac?
No. Disney+’s US help guidance says content cannot be downloaded on a computer. Its US guidance also says ad-supported plans do not support downloads. For offline Disney+ viewing, check that your plan and title are eligible, then download through the service on a supported phone or tablet before going offline. The cited rule is US-specific, so check the help information for your market.

What to check before you go offline
- Device and app: Downloads depend on the service’s supported app and device. A Mac browser does not make an unsupported service download-capable.
- Title and plan: A service may allow downloads generally while excluding particular titles, channels, or plans.
- Expiry: Downloads can expire. Check the app before travel, especially if you will be offline for several days.
- Storage and playback: Keep enough local space available. Prime Video discourages USB-connected storage and does not permit downloaded playback over Chromecast or AirPlay.
- Fallback device: An iPad can serve as a separate offline device for eligible Netflix or Apple TV downloads. It does not store those downloads on your Mac.
Service rules, catalog rights, app features, and plan restrictions can change. Netflix’s download guidance is localized by country, and the Disney+ information above is for the US; check the rules for your region, plan, and specific title before relying on a download.
