Contemporary reports described folder-based permissions, file-level controls and the ability to revoke access after download. Those reports do not establish whether the product is available or supported today.
What Vera for Microsoft was
In December 2016, InfoWorld described Vera for Microsoft as an extension of Vera’s file-level information-rights-management approach for Office 365 documents. It covered documents stored locally, on remote SharePoint servers and in OneDrive for Business. Vera’s announcement also described protection for content uploaded to SharePoint and OneDrive for Business. InfoWorld’s December 19, 2016 report and Vera’s December 14, 2016 announcement are historical accounts, not evidence of current product behavior.
How the reported file controls worked
Policies inherited from folders
InfoWorld reported that administrators could set permissions on folders so Office 365 documents added to those folders inherited the assigned policies. The described rules could apply to Active Directory or SharePoint groups and external collaborators.
Limits on what recipients could do
The 2016 report said administrators could control who could open a document and restrict actions such as editing, printing, copying and pasting, or taking screenshots. Vera’s announcement separately claimed dynamic protection for Visio files. These are launch-era descriptions and claims; they should not be read as a current feature list.

What “everywhere” meant—and what it did not prove
The central idea was that controls were intended to travel with the protected file instead of ending at the boundary of its original storage service. InfoWorld said policies could remain in effect if a file was downloaded to an unmanaged device or saved to services such as Dropbox or Slack. It also described expiration and revocation controls.
Vera’s announcement claimed it could encrypt, track, audit and revoke access after files were downloaded. That is a vendor claim, not independent validation that every destination, file type or workflow behaved identically. The reports establish what Vera said the integration was intended to do; they do not demonstrate that protection worked in every circumstance.

What the launch-era sources said about availability
Vera’s December 2016 announcement described the integration as available, while InfoWorld reported that general availability was expected in early 2017. These statements refer to launch timing only. The cited sources do not establish whether Vera for Microsoft is sold, supported or otherwise available now, and they do not identify a confirmed successor product or current signup or download path.

Vera’s 2016 announcement cited 85 million monthly Office 365 users and attributed a forecast that more than 40% of Office 365 deployments would occur within two years to Gartner. The original source behind the user figure and the underlying Gartner report were not verified, so these should be treated as historical figures reported by Vera—not current measurements or independently checked forecasts. Vera’s announcement also quoted Duncan Brown, identified there as IDC Research Director, European Security Practice, on the need to control and monitor access as sensitive information moves across on-premises and cloud services. That quotation appears in Vera’s announcement, not an independently sourced IDC publication.
