Intel reported $13.7 billion in revenue for Q3 2025, up 3% year over year, and positive diluted earnings per share on both GAAP and non-GAAP measures. The company said demand was running ahead of supply and its CFO expected that trend to continue into 2026. That was a forecast made in October 2025—not a guarantee that Intel could meet all demand.

Which Intel earnings report does this headline refer to?

It refers to Intel’s Q3 2025 earnings release, published October 23, 2025. The figures below are the company’s reported results for that quarter; Intel described them as preliminary and unaudited. They are not results for Q3 2026.

What did Intel report for Q3 2025?

Revenue rose modestly, while reported margins and diluted earnings per share improved sharply against Q3 2024, when Intel recorded losses on both earnings measures. GAAP and non-GAAP figures are different accounting presentations, so they should be read separately rather than combined into a single trend.

Measure Q3 2025 Q3 2024
Revenue $13.7 billion, up 3% year over year Not stated in Intel’s Q3 2025 release summary
GAAP diluted EPS $0.90 -$3.88
Non-GAAP diluted EPS $0.23 -$0.46
GAAP gross margin 38.2% 15.0%
Non-GAAP gross margin 40.0% 18.0%
GAAP operating margin 5.0% -68.2%
Non-GAAP operating margin 11.2% -17.8%

These figures support a conclusion of improved reported profitability and slightly higher revenue. They do not, on their own, establish that AI demand caused each financial change. The earnings release’s supply statement is management’s characterization of demand and capacity, not an independent market-wide measurement.

What did Intel mean by demand outpacing supply?

Intel CFO David Zinsner said in the Q3 2025 release: “Current demand is outpacing supply, a trend we expect will persist into 2026.” The first part describes management’s account of conditions at the time; the second is a forward-looking expectation. It should not be read as a promise about production volumes, delivery dates, or the amount of unmet demand.

The headline’s reference to an “AI wave” also needs qualification. Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan later described AI as driving unprecedented demand for compute, but that is the CEO’s view and does not independently establish how much of Intel’s Q3 2025 revenue or profit came from AI-related demand.

Did supply constraints continue into 2026?

In its Q2 2026 Form 10-Q, Intel said market demand in Q2 and year to date exceeded available product supply. The filing described several constraints rather than one uniform shortage: Intel’s own ability to supply some products, as well as industry-wide availability of substrates, memory, and other critical components.

  • Client products: Intel expected client constraints to ease in the second half of 2026.
  • Server products: Server volume increased 9% year over year in Q2 2026, primarily because of higher hyperscaler demand, but Intel said demand still exceeded available server supply because of internal constraints.
  • Industry components: Intel expected shortages of substrates, memory, and other critical components to persist into 2027, potentially limiting its ability to meet demand fully.

The same filing reported client revenue growth alongside an 8% year-over-year decline in client volume, attributing the revenue change to product mix and pricing. Revenue growth therefore did not mean that unit shipments rose across every product group.

What later results say—and do not say—about the 2025 outlook

Intel’s Q2 2026 release reported $16.1 billion in revenue, up 25% year over year. Diluted EPS was a GAAP loss of $2.16 and non-GAAP earnings of $0.42. The contrast between those measures is a reminder to check the accounting basis when comparing earnings periods; neither measure should be substituted for the other.

The Q2 2026 filing is evidence that supply limitations remained relevant, but it does not make the October 2025 forecast a certainty in retrospect or show that every Intel product faced the same constraint. Its disclosures distinguish client products, server supply, and shortages affecting the wider industry. Intel’s statements describe its business and outlook; they do not establish a market-wide demand series.

Could Intel meet all demand in 2026?

The available company disclosures do not support a simple yes or no. Intel said demand exceeded supply in Q2 2026 and identified internal server constraints and broader component shortages, while expecting client constraints to ease later that year. Its outlook indicated that supply conditions could improve differently across product groups, with some external component shortages lasting longer. It did not establish that Intel would fully satisfy demand in 2026.

Intel also discussed prospective foundry customer commitments separately from product supply. In its Q1 2026 earnings-call fact sheet, CEO Lip-Bu Tan said the company expected early design commitments for Intel 14A to emerge beginning in the second half of 2026 and expand into the first half of 2027. Design commitments are not the same as committed production volumes or customer orders.
