Shadow of the Tomb Raider has modest listed Windows requirements for its standard graphics options: 8 GB of RAM and an older entry-level graphics card meet Steam’s minimum specification. Steam’s recommended setup asks for 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1060 6GB or Radeon RX 480 8GB. Ray-traced shadows are an optional graphics feature, not part of Steam’s minimum requirements; NVIDIA provides Medium, High, and Ultra settings for them.
Windows PC requirements
Steam lists separate minimum and recommended configurations for Windows. These are the store’s published specifications, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or graphics setting on every system. Steam’s requirements listing was accessed in 2026.

What the requirements mean for your PC
If you meet the minimum
Your PC meets Steam’s listed entry-level specification for Windows, but that does not establish what resolution, detail settings, or frame rate you will get. The minimum graphics options include the GTX 660, GTX 1050, and Radeon HD 7770; the listing does not promise a particular experience with those cards.
If you meet the recommended specification
The recommended tier raises the memory requirement to 16 GB and lists a GTX 1060 6GB or Radeon RX 480 8GB. It is a stronger baseline for the standard game, but Steam does not attach a target resolution or frame rate to this specification. Nor should it be read as a requirement for ray tracing.

Ray-traced shadows are an optional extra
Steam does not list ray tracing among the Windows minimum requirements. NVIDIA describes ray-traced shadows as a post-launch feature and offers three levels: Medium, High, and Ultra. Its update says Medium enables point-light shadows, while High adds ray-traced shadows across levels. NVIDIA recommends High as its image-quality/performance balance and describes Ultra as an enthusiast setting; those are NVIDIA’s recommendations, not independent benchmark results. To change the option in-game, open Video > Graphics and find Ray Traced Shadow Quality. NVIDIA’s campaign identifies the game’s real-time ray tracing as powered by GeForce RTX. That describes the vendor-promoted path to the feature; it does not establish which currently available graphics card will deliver a particular frame rate. macOS requirements are different
The Steam listing gives a separate macOS minimum, so do not use the Windows table to judge a Mac. Steam lists macOS 10.15, a 2 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 40 GB storage, and either AMD Radeon R9 M290 with 2 GB or better, or Intel Iris 540 with 1.5 GB or better. The listing also includes supported Mac model notes; check those on the Steam page before relying on the component figures alone.

NVIDIA’s 2018 graphics guide includes setting-specific advice that can help explain demanding options, but it is historical vendor guidance rather than a current requirement. It recommends a 6 GB GPU for Ultra textures and strongly advises 10 GB or more of VRAM for 4K Ultra. Those figures describe those particular settings, not the game’s baseline minimum. The same guide reports that its testing saw DirectX 12 improve frame rates by “up to 53%” in its tested scenario; that old, vendor-reported result is not a general expectation for today’s PCs.
