You generally cannot look up a graphics card’s complete cheating history. There is no universal GPU history database in the official sources available here. A publisher may let you check whether a device is currently hardware-banned in one of its games, but that is a game-specific status check—not proof of whether the GPU was ever used for cheating.

Can you check whether a used GPU was previously used for cheating?

Not conclusively. Identifying a card by its label or Windows hardware ID can help confirm what is being sold, but it does not reveal what a previous owner did with it. A warranty check answers a different question: whether coverage applies to the product and buyer.

Activision’s Call of Duty Security and Enforcement Policy, published July 31, 2026, warns that active hardware bans may affect secondhand devices. It provides a way to check a device’s current status in a crossplay Call of Duty title. The policy does not establish that the GPU alone is the identifier, or that its procedure applies to other publishers’ games.

How to check current Call of Duty hardware-ban status

If Call of Duty is the game you are concerned about, the check must be performed in that game on the device being evaluated:

#1 Best Overall
ASUS Dual Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB GDDR6 Gaming Graphics Card
  • Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
  • 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
  • 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
  • Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
  • Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
  1. Arrange to test the actual PC or device containing the used GPU, preferably during a return period or with the seller present.
  2. Sign in to a crossplay Call of Duty title on that device using an account in good standing.
  3. Look for a hardware-ban status notification from the game. Activision says an active hardware ban produces a status notification.
  4. Record what happened and keep the written return terms. A seller-provided screenshot is less useful than a check on the device you would actually receive.

A clean result means only that the check did not show an active hardware-ban notification at that time in that Call of Duty context. It does not establish a complete history, rule out past enforcement, or certify the device for another game.

How to verify which graphics card is being sold

Ask for the exact board-partner model and clear photos of the card’s product label and serial sticker. Compare those details with the listing and, if available, the original purchase paperwork. AMD’s official identification guidance also describes using Windows Device Manager hardware IDs to help identify the installed card’s manufacturer and model.

  • Powered by GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
  • Integrated with 16GB GDDR7 256bit memory interface
  • PCIe 5.0
  • WINDFORCE cooling system

These checks can expose a mismatch between the advertised card and the installed hardware. They cannot show whether a previous owner cheated, whether a publisher has taken enforcement action, or whether the card has a clean history.

Keep cheating history, condition, and warranty separate

  • Cheating or ban history: There is no general lookup established here. The Activision procedure concerns a device’s current status in Call of Duty.
  • Physical identity: Labels, serial details, and hardware IDs help establish what the card is, not how it was used.
  • Condition: Inspect and test ordinary operation separately. A successful basic test is not evidence about past game use.
  • Warranty: NVIDIA’s cited US GeForce warranty page says coverage applies to qualifying new purchases and does not extend to someone who acquires the product used. Terms depend on the exact card, region, and purchase circumstances, so check the manufacturer’s applicable terms.

Activision’s RICOCHET Anti-Cheat overview describes a PC kernel-level driver that monitors applications attempting to interact with protected Call of Duty titles. That explains anti-cheat operation while a protected game runs; it is not a buyer tool for reconstructing a GPU’s past.

What to ask the seller before buying

  • What is the exact board-partner model, and can you provide clear label and serial photos?
  • Can the relevant game-and-device status check be performed on the actual system before the sale is final?
  • Was the PC or card used with the game you are concerned about?
  • What written return terms apply if the game reports a hardware-ban status?

Keep the listing, seller’s answers, serial photos, and return terms. If the seller cannot support a meaningful check and the risk matters to you, favor a transaction with a clear return policy. No third-party tool is established here as able to certify a GPU’s cheating history.

What a hardware-ban check does—and does not—tell you

Activision advises: “Players should exercise caution when purchasing, borrowing, or using secondhand, shared, or publicly accessible devices.” Its policy describes a publisher-specific device check, not a public record for an individual graphics card. A different publisher may use different enforcement systems, and the cited check cannot answer for those systems.

No prevalence figure is established for how often used GPUs were previously used for cheating. Do not infer that a card is likely clean or likely banned from its age, appearance, identity, or a successful check in one game.
