What Amazon charged for M4 Mac minis in January 2026
MacRumors reported these Amazon prices on January 28, 2026. They are historical snapshots, not current quotes or evidence of an all-time-low price.

MacRumors described $499 for the 16GB/256GB M4 as a second-best price at that time. That characterization does not show whether the price is available now or how it compares with every later promotion. The report also described discounts of up to $130 across the configurations it covered.
How to judge a live listing
Compare like with like: memory and SSD capacity change between configurations, so a lower headline price may not represent the same machine. On the listing, confirm the exact configuration, the price charged today, who is selling it, and whether it is in stock. A reference or crossed-out price alone does not establish that the offer is unusually good; the dated January prices above provide a past comparison point, not a current price-history record.

These are Apple’s 2024 Mac mini specifications. The M4 Pro starts with more CPU and GPU cores, memory, and storage, and it has Thunderbolt 5 rather than Thunderbolt 4. That makes it the more capable tier on paper, but whether the extra capability is worth the price depends on your workload and connected equipment. For everyday desktop tasks, compare the M4’s price and configuration first; consider M4 Pro if your work benefits from its higher-tier processor and graphics, or your setup specifically calls for Thunderbolt 5.
Ports, displays, and desk setup
Both models have two front USB-C ports, HDMI, Ethernet, and a headphone jack. Apple lists the M4 as supporting up to three displays, with supported resolutions depending on how many displays are connected and how they are connected. M4 Pro has different supported display combinations. Check Apple’s Mac mini (2024) technical specifications against your monitors’ resolution, refresh rate, and connection requirements before buying; “up to three displays” does not mean every three-display combination is supported.
The M4 Ethernet port can be configured for 10Gb Ethernet. Apple’s October 29, 2024 launch announcement described the Mac mini’s footprint as 5 inches by 5 inches and distinguished the M4’s three rear Thunderbolt 4 ports from the M4 Pro’s three rear Thunderbolt 5 ports. The Mac mini is a desktop computer, so budget separately for a display, keyboard, and pointing device if you do not already have them.

Apple refurbished is a separate option
An Apple Certified Refurbished store search result showed an M4 with 16GB memory, 256GB SSD, and Gigabit Ethernet for $679, reduced from $799, with a one-year limited warranty and 14-day returns. This is a separate Apple listing, not an Amazon price, and its availability may change. Confirm the configuration, terms, and current stock directly with Apple before comparing it with a new machine.

The January 2026 Amazon report shows that the base M4 once reached $499, but it cannot answer whether Amazon has a sale today. Choose by the configuration you actually need: compare the M4 and M4 Pro’s memory, storage, performance tier, ports, and display support, then verify the live price and seller for that exact model.
