It raises the standard’s stated maximum charging power from the original Qi2’s 15 W to 25 W. That is a standard-level capability—not a guarantee that every iPhone, Android phone, charger, case, or power adapter will deliver 25 W.
What Qi2 25W changes
Qi2 25W is the WPC-branded version of Qi v2.2.1. The WPC says it provides nearly 70% more power than the original Qi2, whose stated charging power was 15 W. That comparison is about power, not a claim that phones charge nearly 70% faster in every real-world setup. WPC knowledge base
The WPC also says a fully depleted smartphone battery can reach 50% in about 30 minutes with Qi2 25W. Treat that as the WPC’s general capability statement, not a promised time for a particular phone. Actual charging depends on the phone’s supported profile, charger, adapter, case and charging conditions. WPC knowledge base
The WPC announced Qi2 25W on July 23, 2025, describing the addition of major Android devices as an expansion of the Qi2 ecosystem. That announcement does not establish that every Android phone—or every iPhone—supports 25 W. WPC announcement

Which phones support Qi2 25W?
Support is specific to the exact phone model and its certified charging profile. A phone described simply as having wireless charging, or even earlier Qi2 support, should not be assumed to support Qi2 25W.
Check the phone maker’s specifications for explicit Qi2 25W support, then look up the product in the WPC’s certified-products database. The WPC says the database is the way to confirm certification; certified products receive a WPC ID. The WPC does not provide a complete current phone roster in the cited announcement, so the announcement alone cannot identify every compatible iPhone or Android model. WPC certified products

What you need for a Qi2 25W setup
- A phone with the right profile: Confirm that the exact model supports Qi2 25W, rather than only ordinary Qi charging or an earlier Qi2 profile.
- A certified charger with the right output: Verify the charger’s certification and stated Qi2 25W capability in its specifications and the WPC database.
- A suitable power adapter: Check whether the adapter is included and what input the charger requires. Requirements are product-specific.
- Compatible magnetic alignment and case: Confirm the phone and case combination is supported. A magnetic case by itself does not prove that a phone can charge at 25 W.
A product example: Samsung’s Qi2 25W charger
Samsung UK lists the Qi2 25W Magnet Wireless Charger, model EP-P2900. Samsung says it works with Qi2-supported devices and identifies Galaxy S25 series or later for magnetic alignment. For optimal charging on Galaxy devices, Samsung says to use a Qi2-supported device or case. Those are Samsung’s product-specific statements, not universal Qi2 requirements. Samsung UK product page
Samsung specifies that reaching up to 25 W with this charger requires an official Samsung 45 W or higher PPS 20 V adapter. That condition applies to this cited charger; do not assume it applies to every Qi2 25W charger. Check the charger’s own instructions before buying or connecting an adapter. Samsung UK product page

- COMPACT DIMENSIONS: Measures 2.36 x 2.36 x 0.33 inches for space-saving setup
How to verify a charger before buying
- Check the exact phone model. Find the manufacturer’s specification for Qi2 25W support; do not infer it from the phrase “wireless charging.”
- Check the charger’s certification. Search the model or WPC ID in the WPC certified-products database.
- Read the charger’s output and adapter requirements. Confirm that the listed maximum matches the profile your phone supports and whether a suitable adapter is supplied separately.
- Confirm case and alignment compatibility. Follow the phone and charger makers’ instructions for magnetic alignment and supported cases.
- Set a realistic charging expectation. A 25 W label describes a maximum capability; it does not establish the charge rate or time for your particular combination.
Is Qi2 50W available?
Not according to the WPC update published in June 2026. It describes engineers and technical experts reviewing proposals and interoperability results for a proposed Qi2 50W standard. That is development work, not an announcement that a 50 W standard has launched or that consumers have a release date. WPC June 2026 update
