AMD’s latest reported Ryzen 5000 processor for Socket AM4 is the Ryzen 5 5600F. HotHardware reported its launch on September 17, 2025, describing a 6-core, 12-thread chip with boost clocks up to 4 GHz. It has no integrated graphics, so a system using it needs a discrete graphics card. That long-lived AM4 socket does not guarantee the 5600F will work in every AM4 motherboard: check your exact board’s CPU support list and BIOS notes before buying.
What is the new Ryzen 5000 CPU for AM4?
The processor is the AMD Ryzen 5 5600F. HotHardware reported it as a new Socket AM4 launch on September 17, 2025. The report’s specifications are summarized below; they are reported figures, not results from an independent test.
| Specification | Ryzen 5 5600F as reported by HotHardware |
|---|---|
| Socket | AM4 |
| Architecture | Zen 3 |
| Cores / threads | 6 / 12 |
| Base clock | 3 GHz |
| Maximum boost clock | Up to 4 GHz |
| L2 cache | 3 MB |
| L3 cache | 32 MB |
| TDP | 65 W |
| Integrated graphics | None; a discrete graphics card is required |
| Included cooler | Not stated by HotHardware |
HotHardware’s September 17, 2025 report is the source for these launch details. It does not provide independent performance benchmarks, current prices, or regional availability, so the specifications alone do not establish how the 5600F compares in real workloads or value.
Does the Ryzen 5 5600F have integrated graphics?
No. HotHardware reports that the 5600F lacks integrated graphics. A desktop built around it therefore needs a separate graphics card to produce a display output. The launch report does not say that a graphics card is included, nor does it specify an included cooler for this processor.

Will the Ryzen 5 5600F work with your AM4 motherboard?
Not necessarily. Socket AM4 is a necessary starting point, but it is not proof of CPU support. Motherboard manufacturers qualify processors by specific model and may require a particular BIOS version. Before purchasing, identify the exact motherboard model and revision, then check its official CPU support list and BIOS release notes for the Ryzen 5 5600F.
- Find the motherboard model and hardware revision printed on the board or shown in its firmware or system information.
- Open the manufacturer’s support page for that exact model and revision.
- Check the CPU support list for “Ryzen 5 5600F,” including any minimum BIOS version listed.
- Read the BIOS update notes and installation instructions. If an update is required, confirm that your current processor can boot the board and follow the manufacturer’s update procedure before swapping CPUs.
HotHardware gives no compatible motherboard models or BIOS versions for the 5600F, so compatibility has to be confirmed with the board maker rather than inferred from the socket alone.

Why is AMD still launching an AM4 processor?
AM4’s lifespan is the context for the launch. HotHardware dates the socket’s introduction to September 2016 and describes support across Zen, Zen+, Zen 2, and Zen 3 generations before Zen 4 and Zen 5 moved to AM5. That history shows the platform’s broad generational reach, not universal compatibility among every AM4 board and processor.
The same report distinguishes the 5600F from three other CPUs it discusses: the Ryzen 7 9700F and Ryzen 5 9500F, which it identifies as Zen 5 AM5 processors, and the Ryzen 5 7400, which it identifies as a Zen 4 AM5 processor. They are not additional AM4 Ryzen 5000 launches.
