The ESP32-P4-EYE is Espressif’s camera-oriented development board for exploring the ESP32-P4’s vision capabilities. It combines a 2 MP camera, display, microphone and MicroSD slot; Espressif’s factory demo also includes face, pedestrian and YOLOv11-nano-based object detection. Those are documented features, not published performance results. Espressif currently groups the board among its end-of-life products, so availability is uncertain.
What is the ESP32-P4-EYE?
Espressif describes the ESP32-P4-EYE as a vision development board based on the ESP32-P4 and aimed mainly at camera applications. The ESP32-P4 is a dual-core RISC-V processor that supports up to 32 MB of PSRAM, according to the ESP32-P4-EYE User Guide. That memory figure is a chip capability, not a claim about the amount installed on every board.
The design brings image capture and display hardware together with storage and a wireless module. It is intended as a development platform rather than evidence, by itself, of a finished camera product’s performance.
What camera and hardware does the board include?
Espressif’s guide specifies a 2 MP camera with manually adjustable focal length. The board documentation and component listings identify the camera as an OV2710, alongside an ST7789 display, microphone, MicroSD support, fill light, battery connector, buttons and pin headers. The official ESP32-P4-EYE component registry lists the board’s supported components and functions.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The ESP32-P4 provides MIPI-CSI and USB 2.0 capabilities at the chip level. On this board, Espressif documents a MIPI-CSI camera interface and USB 2.0 High-Speed device mode; that does not mean every chip interface is exposed as a connector. An ESP32-C6-MINI-1U module handles Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communication.
The registry marks touch, speaker and IMU support as unavailable in its board-support table. This is a statement about that BSP listing, not a general claim that such features cannot be added externally.

What can the factory demo do?
Espressif’s demo showcases a range of camera workflows. The user guide lists:
- Taking photos and capturing images on a timer.
- Recording video and previewing an album.
- Mounting the MicroSD card over USB.
- Configuring image parameters.
- Face detection, pedestrian detection and object detection based on YOLOv11-nano.
These describe functions in the documented demo. Espressif does not provide accuracy, frame-rate, latency or power figures for the AI features in the reviewed guide, so the feature list should not be read as a benchmark or a guarantee about a particular application.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Can you build your own camera or vision application?
Yes. Espressif provides an official Board Support Package (BSP), and its registry documents an example that streams MIPI-CSI camera output to the display. The registry lists ESP-IDF 5.4 or later for several board functions, but available APIs and examples depend on the framework version and firmware configuration.
Espressif’s ESP-VISION guide for ESP32-P4X-EYE lists modules for sensors, image processing, displays, ESP-DL, TFLite, image I/O, H.264, RTSP and barcodes. It also notes that build configuration and board profile affect availability. That listing is not proof that every module or API is enabled in every ESP32-P4-EYE firmware image.

What do you need to get started?
Espressif lists the board, USB cables and a Windows, Linux or macOS computer as required hardware. A MicroSD card and lithium battery are optional. For flashing and debugging, use the board’s USB Debug Port and a data-capable cable; a charge-only cable lacks the data lines programming requires.
- Install and configure ESP-IDF by following Espressif’s ESP32-P4-EYE setup guide.
- Connect the board’s USB Debug Port to the computer with a data-capable USB cable.
- Build and flash a board-compatible example, checking its framework version and configuration against the BSP documentation.
Is the ESP32-P4-EYE still available?
Espressif’s current documentation navigation places the board under “EOL (End of Life) Boards.” That status makes availability uncertain; the official pages reviewed do not establish live inventory, pricing or whether every seller’s revision matches current examples. If considering a purchase, confirm the exact revision and current stock with the seller, then check it against Espressif’s board documentation.
