It raises the standard’s maximum charging capability compared with original Qi2, but it does not mean every Qi2 phone or charger can deliver 25 watts. To verify a product, search for its exact model in the Wireless Power Consortium’s Qi Certified product database and check its version and certification details.
What is Qi2 25W?
Qi2 25W is the branding for Qi v2.2.1, announced by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) on July 23, 2025. It builds on Qi2, which WPC describes as offering 15W charging, and sets a higher wireless-charging capability for compatible phones or receivers and certified transmitters.
At the announcement, WPC said 14 devices, receivers, and transmitters had completed certification testing during a limited launch the previous week, while several hundred devices were waiting in the certification queue as full-scale testing opened. Those figures describe the situation reported in July 2025, not the current number of certified products.
How much faster is Qi2 25W than Qi2?
WPC describes Qi2 25W as offering nearly 70% more charging power than original Qi2’s 15W. That is a comparison of the standards’ stated power capabilities, not a guarantee that a particular phone will charge nearly 70% faster in everyday use. Actual charging rate depends on the phone or receiver, charger, power supply, and operating conditions.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
WPC also says Qi2 25W can charge a smartphone battery from 0% to 50% in about 30 minutes. This is the consortium’s capability claim; the cited explanation does not specify independent test conditions, and the result should not be treated as a promise for every phone-and-charger combination.
Will my phone charge at 25W?
Not necessarily. A Qi2 25W charger cannot make an incompatible phone accept 25W, and a phone’s general Qi2 support does not by itself establish that it supports the newer 25W rate. Compatibility is specific to the phone or receiver and the charger.

The WPC pages cited here do not provide a complete current list of phone models that support Qi2 25W or identify combinations proven to reach the maximum rate. Check the phone maker’s specifications and the WPC listing for the exact charger or receiver before buying; do not infer 25W support from a generic “Qi2” or “fast wireless charging” label.
How can I tell if a charger is actually Qi2 25W certified?
- Find the charger’s exact model name or model number on its packaging or manufacturer’s product page.
- Search for that exact product in the WPC Qi Certified product database.
- Open the matching entry and inspect its version and certification details. Confirm that the listing identifies the Qi2 25W version rather than relying only on the product’s marketing language.
- Check the phone maker’s specifications and the charger maker’s instructions for compatibility and any required power adapter. The WPC listing confirms certification details; it does not replace product-specific operating requirements.
WPC says certification supports safety and interoperability, and that Qi-certified products appear in its database. Its standards page reports over 13,000 Qi Certified products, a figure for Qi certification overall—not a count of Qi2 25W products.

What to compare when choosing a Qi2 25W wireless charger
- Certification: Verify the exact product entry, version, and certification details in the WPC database.
- Phone support: Confirm that your specific phone or receiver supports the rate you want; charger certification alone does not establish phone capability.
- Format: Choose a pad or stand according to how you use and position your phone.
- Power supply: Check the manufacturer’s instructions for adapter requirements rather than assuming any USB power adapter will deliver the intended performance.
These checks are more useful than choosing by a “25W” label alone. Current model-by-model compatibility, retail availability, prices, and independent charging-speed tests are not established by the WPC materials cited here.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why did WPC announce Qi2 25W?
WPC’s July 2025 release said its market research identified faster wireless charging as the number-one consumer-requested feature for improving wireless-charging satisfaction. The release did not provide a sample size, field date, or percentage, so the finding is best understood as WPC’s characterization of its own market research.

These are statements from the standards body’s representatives, not independent test results.
