Fortnite Reload has its own Ranked ladder, separate from Battle Royale and Zero Build. Placement and eliminations both affect Reload Ranked progress, but Epic does not publish a fixed points-per-kill or placement formula. Tournament entry requirements are set by each event’s rules, so there is no rank that qualifies you for every Reload competition.
How Fortnite Reload Ranked works
Reload Ranked tracks your progress independently from the other ranked modes. Epic’s September 24, 2024 Reload announcement explains that both placement and eliminations play a major role in calculating progress.

That progress is not the same as a tournament leaderboard score. Ranked progression determines movement on your personal rank bar; a tournament’s official rules define how its leaderboard awards points.
Reload has a separate rank from Battle Royale and Zero Build
Your Reload rank does not carry into Battle Royale or Zero Build, and progress in those modes does not change your Reload rank. Epic Support describes the three modes as separate progression tracks in its ranked mode guidance.

The rank ladder
| Rank tier | Divisions |
|---|---|
| Bronze | I, II, III |
| Silver | I, II, III |
| Gold | I, II, III |
| Platinum | I, II, III |
| Diamond | I, II, III |
| Elite | One tier, no divisions |
| Champion | One tier, no divisions |
| Unreal | One tier, no divisions |
Epic Support says players who reach Elite cannot be demoted below Elite for the rest of that season. Ranks partially reset when a new season begins; Reload’s announcement describes resets at the start of a new Ranked period, with a starting rank based on the previous period’s finish. Treat reset timing as season- or period-dependent rather than assuming a particular date.
What affects Reload Ranked progress?
Placement and eliminations both matter
Epic says placement and eliminations both play a major role. It does not publish a numeric formula, so there is no verified universal number of points or percentage awarded for a given placement or elimination. The progress shown after a match can vary; do not treat a specific player’s result as a guaranteed gain for another match.

Team eliminations and repeated eliminations
Reload adds progression for eliminating an entire enemy team. However, when the same team repeatedly eliminates the same opposing player or players, those repeat eliminations become significantly less valuable after the second elimination. The practical takeaway is to value survival, placement, and completing team eliminations rather than relying on repeated farming of the same opponents.
Squad rank and individual rank are different
For a Ranked Reload lobby, matchmaking rank is determined by the highest-ranked player in the team. Each teammate still has an individual rank, and progress-bar movement reflects both team performance and that player’s own rank. A mixed-rank squad can therefore queue at the level of its highest-ranked member without all players sharing that member’s personal rank.
Rank #3
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Ranked progression is not tournament scoring
A cup’s leaderboard points are defined by that event’s rules, not by the Ranked progress formula. For example, the Reload Elite Series Official Rules dated December 10, 2025 describe an event leaderboard and count only a team’s first ten eliminations toward its score in the specified sessions. That limit applies to those event sessions; it is not a general Reload Ranked rule.
Before competing, read the current rules for the named cup and session. Confirm the scoring attachment, team format, region, and eligibility conditions rather than assuming your in-game Ranked results use the same scoring system.
Rank #4

How to unlock Ranked
- Complete the “Outlast 500 players” quest in Kickstart quests. This is the unlock condition stated in Epic’s current Ranked mode support page; Epic’s Reload announcement frames it as a requirement for accounts that have never logged into Fortnite.
- Open the mode selection screen and switch Ranked on for the mode you want to play. Choose Reload Ranked to progress on the Reload track rather than Battle Royale or Zero Build.
What rank do you need for a Reload tournament?
There is no permanent, universal Reload tournament threshold. Rank requirements depend on the event, season, region, session, and team format. Two examples show why it is important to check the event’s own rules:
| Competition and rules date | Rank requirement stated in the rules | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Reload Elite Series, December 10, 2025 | Elite or higher in Reload Ranked | Each eligible teammate had to meet the requirement for their region before the relevant session. |
| Solo Reload Victory Cup, Chapter 7 Season 3, June 3, 2026 | Gold or higher for the first event; Diamond or higher for the second; Champion for the third | Season-specific escalating thresholds for the named solo events. |
These are examples from dated competitions, not current standing requirements for every cup. Check the event listing and its official rules for the applicable season, region, and session before planning around a threshold. Epic publishes competition rules through its Fortnite Competitive page.

Why your rank may not move as expected
- Expecting a fixed kill reward: Epic has not published a numeric Reload Ranked formula. Placement and eliminations matter, but a kill count alone does not guarantee a set progress-bar increase.
- Repeating eliminations on the same opponents: Repeat eliminations by the same team become much less valuable after the second elimination.
- Playing with higher-ranked teammates: The highest rank in a team sets the lobby’s matchmaking rank, while personal progression remains individual.
- Comparing Reload with another mode: Battle Royale and Zero Build use separate rank progression, so their progress bars do not determine Reload rank.
- Checking an old tournament requirement: Rank thresholds and scoring can change from event to event and season to season. Use the rules for the specific competition you intend to enter.
