How to go back to the previous page
Use the Android system navigation control: tap the Back button, or swipe with the system back gesture if gestures are enabled on your device. Brave staff described both as ways to go back in the Android browser. Brave Community guidance
How to go forward in Brave
- Tap Brave’s three-dot main menu.
- Look for and tap Forward.

If the menu shows Back instead of Forward
A user report dated September 25, 2026 described this behavior in Brave version 1.96.59 when the bottom toolbar was disabled. A Brave staff member acknowledged seeing it, but the available report does not establish whether a later version fixed it. Treat this as a version-specific reported issue, not expected behavior for every installation. Brave Community report

Can you add Back and Forward arrows to the toolbar?
Brave documents an Android Toolbar shortcut feature for version 1.85 and later. To set it up, go to Main menu > Settings > Appearance > Toolbar shortcut. It creates a one-tap shortcut to browser features; Brave’s guidance does not say that it adds separate Back and Forward arrows. Brave Android feature guidance
Why desktop toolbar instructions do not apply
Brave’s Help Center article titled “Customize your toolbar” describes desktop controls. It does not establish the Android interface or provide Android steps, so do not use its desktop menu path to look for mobile Back or Forward buttons. Brave desktop toolbar help
