Check the game’s PlayStation Store listing first; if you pre-ordered it, use the countdown in your PS5 Game Library as a second check. Treat a date without an hour or time zone as a date only: it does not tell you exactly when the game will become playable where you live.
How do I check what time a PS5 game comes out in my region?
- Open the game’s PlayStation Store listing. Search for the title in the Store. PlayStation Support says the release date for a pre-order appears under the game’s title. Look for an exact hour and a time-zone label as well as the date; the listing may show only a date. PlayStation’s pre-order and auto-download instructions explain where to find the date.
- If you pre-ordered the game, check its countdown on PS5. Go to Game Library, select the pre-ordered game, and view the timer. Selecting the countdown shows included content and lets you manage auto-download settings, according to PlayStation Support.
- Check an official game announcement if the Store does not show an hour. Look for a launch-time announcement from the publisher or PlayStation, and confirm that it refers to the game’s launch in your region—not to pre-orders opening or another event.
- Convert only a time with a stated zone. If the listing gives a UTC timestamp, convert that timestamp to your local time and account for the date change and daylight-saving rules where you live. Do not treat UTC as your local clock time.
What does the time on the listing actually refer to?
Check three details before relying on a displayed time: what event it describes, which time zone it uses, and whether it is an exact time or just a date. A pre-order opening is not the game’s launch, and a local-time event announcement is not proof that the game itself unlocks at that hour everywhere.
A UTC Store timestamp: Grand Theft Auto VI
When checked on October 4, 2026, the US PlayStation Store listing for Grand Theft Auto VI displayed a release time of November 19, 2026 at 05:00 AM UTC. A local-time pre-order event: God of War: Laufey
A September 28, 2026 PlayStation.Blog announcement about God of War: Laufey said pre-orders would open September 29 at 10:00am local time and separately gave February 16, 2027 as the scheduled PS5 launch date. The two dates describe different events; the 10:00am time is for pre-orders, not the game launch.

Does a PS5 game release at midnight local time?
Do not assume so. The official examples here do not establish a universal midnight-local policy, a single global unlock time, or one timing rule shared by every regional Store. Use the title’s own listing and official announcements for the specific game and region. If they provide only a release date, do not infer an exact hour from the date alone.
How can I prepare a PS5 pre-order?
PlayStation Support recommends enabling Stay Connected to the Internet and provides auto-download controls for pre-orders. On the console, use the game’s countdown in Game Library to view its included content and manage those settings. These options can prepare a download, but PlayStation’s instructions do not guarantee that every game will be immediately playable at its scheduled release time.

What to do if no exact release time is shown
- Use the Store page for the game’s listed release date and check the PS5 Game Library countdown if you pre-ordered.
- Look for a game-specific official publisher or PlayStation announcement that names the launch hour and its time zone.
- If neither gives an hour and zone, treat the release time as unconfirmed rather than converting a date or assuming midnight in your region.
