What is Melodio Self-Mate?
Melodio Self-Mate is a DIY electronics project built around an ESP32-S3. Its creator, Elediko Habib, describes the idea as a portable device for listening to audiobooks or Spotify and controlling home devices without logging into a browser. The separate-player concept is also meant to avoid smartphone notifications while listening; that is the creator’s stated motivation, not a finding from user research. The presence of named audio components does not establish how a finished player would sound. The project materials cited here do not report measured audio quality, battery life or reliability. Nor do they establish that Spotify Connect currently works with this design; compatibility depends on its implemented software and service conditions.

Is Melodio a finished product you can buy?
The available project records support treating Melodio as a design and prototype effort, not as a verified retail music player. In its project log, the creator said PCB files had been sent for fabrication and 3D design files for printing, and described prototype assembly and test logs as future steps. Build instructions were also described as forthcoming. Hackaday’s February 12, 2024 coverage noted uncertainty about whether the project had progressed from renders to a physical build. The cited material does not establish a completed-device test or a generally available finished product.

Melodio is a custom-build project, not a choice among documented finished models. The repository is the starting point for examining its design files and specified parts, but the cited sources do not validate a complete bill of materials or a tested build procedure. Habib’s project page says, “All files and other necessary details on PCBWAY project link”; that points readers toward project files and fabrication information, not to a tested, ready-to-assemble kit.
Before sourcing parts or ordering a board, a prospective builder should:
- Review the published circuit and parts information to check electrical compatibility rather than assuming any similarly named module will fit.
- Confirm which design files and assembly instructions are actually available and whether they cover the intended revision.
- Plan for custom PCB assembly, 3D-printed enclosure work and the programming needed to make the listed functions operate.
- Treat Spotify Connect as an intended feature until the software and service compatibility have been confirmed for the build.
A search for a PCM5102A DAC module may help locate a component matching the named DAC, but a marketplace listing is not a confirmed Melodio-compatible part. Check it against the actual circuit and parts list. Likewise, the project’s PCBWay reference identifies a fabrication route in its project context; it does not establish current service terms or endorse a particular supplier.
