All three can work on Android projects through Google’s Android CLI, but they offer different ways to work: Claude Code is documented as a development-machine CLI, Codex spans CLI, IDE, and cloud workflows, and Antigravity is Google’s agentic development environment. For visual editing, debugging, testing, and profiling, use Android Studio alongside an agent. Google announced Android Studio integrations for all three as a preview in Rabbit 2; the available official sources do not establish a controlled performance winner.
How the three tools fit into Android development
The most important common ground is Google’s Android CLI. In its May 2026 stable 1.0 announcement, Google explicitly named Claude Code, Codex, and Antigravity as compatible agents. The CLI supplies Android-specific programmatic tools and works with Android Knowledge Base and skills, giving an agent a way to interact with Android development tasks rather than relying only on general coding context. Google’s Android CLI announcement
Compatibility does not make the products interchangeable. Their main differences are the work surface you prefer, how you organize the development loop, and the tools your team already uses. Google’s May 2026 announcement also describes Journeys tools and skills for creating and running natural-language app journeys; that is an Android tooling capability, not evidence that any one agent produces better results.
What each agent brings
| Agent | Documented work surface | Android connection | Practical fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Code | Development-machine CLI with interactive and print modes; Anthropic documents permission settings, MCP, and session continuation. | Google lists Claude Code as a third-party agent that can work with Android CLI. | Terminal- and repository-oriented work where you want Android-specific actions grounded through Google’s tooling. The cited sources do not establish Claude Code as a native Android IDE. |
| Codex | CLI, IDE, and cloud workflows, according to OpenAI’s developer overview. | Google lists Codex among agents served by Android CLI. | A candidate if your development workflow already spans those Codex surfaces. The cited sources do not establish a unique Android capability unavailable to the other two. |
| Antigravity | Google describes it as an agentic development environment. | Google says Antigravity 2.0 supports Android CLI; Android Studio’s announced BYOA preview also names Antigravity. | A fit if you want to work in Google’s agentic environment, while keeping the version-specific Android CLI claim tied to Antigravity 2.0. |

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Using an agent with Android Studio
On September 24, 2026, Google announced preview Bring Your Own Agent (BYOA) support in Android Studio Rabbit 2, naming Anthropic’s Claude Agent, OpenAI’s Codex, and Google’s Antigravity. Treat this as preview availability, not a claim that the integration is generally available or stable in every Android Studio release. Check the current Android Studio release notes and preview status before planning around it. Google’s BYOA announcement
Google’s Android Studio materials describe an agent-assisted workflow that can include architecture and design planning, code writing, unit testing, and bug fixing. Google also says the latest Android CLI can bridge agents to Android Studio through the studio command. Android Studio remains important for deeper visual editing, debugging, testing, and profiling; these are complementary roles, not reasons to assume the agent can validate its own work. Exact CLI and IDE capabilities can change with releases, so confirm them against the version you install. Android Studio tools announcement June Android developer productivity update

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Choose by workflow, not an unproven winner
- Choose Claude Code if you prefer a terminal-first workflow and value the setup and permission options described in Anthropic’s documentation.
- Choose Codex if CLI, IDE, or cloud workflows suit your existing development setup.
- Choose Antigravity if Google’s agentic development environment is the work surface you want; use the specific Antigravity 2.0 qualification for its Android CLI support.
- Use Android Studio with any of them when the task calls for visual inspection, emulator-based checks, debugging, tests, or profiling.
Google’s April 16, 2026 Android Developers post used the headline “Build Android apps 3x faster using any agent.” That is Google’s claim, not an independent head-to-head test of Claude Code, Codex, and Antigravity, and it does not show that one is faster than another. Google’s post on building Android apps with agents
A practical verification loop for agent-written Android code
- Give the agent a bounded task. Specify the feature or bug, relevant project context, expected behavior, and constraints. Ask for a proposed plan when the change affects architecture or several parts of the app.
- Review the changes. Inspect the diff and any dependency, configuration, or generated-file changes before accepting them. Agent output is a proposal, not proof that the app works.
- Build and run checks. Use the project’s configured build and test workflow, then address compilation errors and failing tests rather than treating a successful code edit as a completed task.
- Check app behavior in Android Studio or an emulator. Exercise the relevant user flow, inspect failures, and use debugging or profiling tools when the issue calls for them. For journeys, Google describes Android CLI Journeys tools and skills for creating and running natural-language app journeys.
- Keep approval and environment boundaries explicit. Anthropic documents Claude Code permission controls and supported setup. The sources cited here do not establish equivalent detailed controls across all three products, so check each product’s current documentation and your organization’s requirements before granting access.
What the official evidence can—and cannot—tell you
The reviewed official materials establish a shared Android-specific integration path and distinct product work surfaces. They do not report a controlled comparison of output quality, speed, reliability, or cost for the three agents on the same Android tasks. Your best choice therefore depends on environment, team workflow, and verification needs—not a claimed benchmark winner.
