To enable or disable inactivity-based Sleep Mode on an Epson projector, press Menu, open the model’s ECO or Operation menu, select Sleep Mode, then choose On or Off. The menu path varies by model, and some projectors use a separate Sleep Timer countdown instead.
Change Sleep Mode from the projector menu
- Turn on the projector. Press Menu on the remote or projector’s control panel if your model supports both access methods.
- Open the menu containing the sleep control. For example, the PowerLite 1263W guide places Sleep Mode under ECO; the EB-810E/815E reference places it under Operation.
- Select Sleep Mode. Choose Off to disable inactivity-based automatic shutoff, or On to enable it. On the cited EB-810E/815E, a separate timer works only when Sleep Mode is on.
- Exit the menu and check whether the projector now behaves as expected. If it still turns off, check for other automatic-off settings and any countdown displayed on screen.
These paths and labels are model-specific examples, not a universal Epson menu sequence. Consult the guide for your exact model if the setting is not where expected. Epson’s ECO menu reference describes Sleep Mode as turning the projector off after an interval of inactivity when the setting is on.
Sleep Mode and Sleep Timer are not always the same setting
On Epson references that call the setting Sleep Mode, it is an on/off control for inactivity-based shutoff, sometimes paired with a separate delay timer. Epson’s EB-810E/815E reference describes a 1-to-30-minute timer and specifies that Sleep Mode must be on for the timer to work.
The EF-12 uses the label Sleep Timer for a preset countdown before automatic turn-off. Its path is Settings > Sleep Timer, with choices of Off or 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, and 120 minutes. Canceling the on-screen countdown changes the setting to Off. Do not assume this countdown is the same as an inactivity toggle.

If the projector still turns off
- Check for a separate timer. A timer may remain active even when you have changed another sleep-related control. Review the exact model’s menu and manual.
- Look for other automatic-off controls. The PowerLite 1263W guide lists Lens Cover Timer and A/V Mute Timer separately from Sleep Mode. Their presence is not established for every Epson model.
- Read any on-screen countdown. If the menu says Sleep Timer, verify whether it is a preset countdown and how to cancel it rather than treating it as an inactivity setting.
- Check model-specific signal or input behavior. If Sleep Mode is off and the projector still shuts down, use the model’s guide to identify other applicable automatic-off behavior; menu options vary.
