To find a retired LEGO Nintendo set, search LEGO.com using its exact set number or name and check the availability label beneath the price. LEGO’s “Sold out” label means more stock is possible but undated; “Retired Product” means LEGO says it will not restock the set. If LEGO.com no longer lists it, LEGO recommends checking BrickLink—but that recommendation does not guarantee a listing is available.
Find the exact set first
Start with the LEGO set number or the full official set name. Nintendo-themed sets can have similar names, and a broad search may return a different model or an unrelated listing. If you do not know the number, look for it on the box, instructions, or an official LEGO product page when one is accessible.
Search that identifier on LEGO.com. The status displayed beneath the product price describes LEGO.com’s own availability, not the inventory of every retailer or reseller.
What LEGO’s availability labels mean
LEGO defines these labels for products on its website:
#1 Best Overall

| LEGO.com label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Available now | Currently available to order. |
| Temporarily out of stock | Not currently orderable, but LEGO expects more stock in the future. |
| Sold out | LEGO may get more stock, but no restock date is confirmed. |
| Retiring soon | LEGO says the set will be retired very soon. |
| Retired Product | The set is no longer in LEGO’s current assortment, and LEGO says it will not receive more stock. |
These definitions come from LEGO’s availability-status guidance. They distinguish “Sold out” from “Retired Product”: the former leaves open the possibility of another LEGO.com shipment, while the latter means LEGO does not plan to restock it. A retailer’s inventory label is not proof that all other sellers have stopped carrying the set.
Where to look if LEGO.com no longer lists it
LEGO’s retired-set help page directs customers who cannot find a set on LEGO.com to BrickLink, describing it as a place to find retired sets and connect with fans. That is a discovery recommendation, not confirmation that a particular Nintendo set has a live offer. Check the exact set number and seller description rather than relying only on a theme search.

BrickLink’s Inventory Comparison Tool can compare a set’s inventory with LEGO data or another BrickLink inventory. BrickLink cautions that “We do not currently have complete data for all items” and specifically notes gaps for categories including most sets older than 1996. Treat the tool as a useful completeness check, not an absolute guarantee; its stated limitation is especially relevant when evaluating older sets. See BrickLink’s Inventory Comparison Tool guidance.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to interpret what you find
LEGO’s status tells you whether LEGO.com considers the set orderable, sold out, or retired; it does not establish whether an independent retailer or secondhand seller has stock. Likewise, finding a marketplace result does not by itself establish that the listing is complete, fairly priced, or still available. Make the purchase decision from the current listing’s details, not from the retired label alone.
