Honkai: Star Rail pity carries over only between banners in the same Warp category. Pulls on one Character Event Warp count toward the next Character Event Warp; pulls on one Light Cone Event Warp count toward the next Light Cone Event Warp. The two counters are independent, so changing from a character banner to a Light Cone banner does not transfer or combine the count.
Which banner pulls share a pity counter?
HoYoverse’s official Version 3.3 Event Warp notice, published May 20, 2025, says the cumulative count toward a guaranteed 5-star character carries between Character Event Warps. It separately says the cumulative count toward a guaranteed 5-star Light Cone carries between Light Cone Event Warps. Each counter is independent of other types of Warps.
| Banner you pulled on | Banner you switch to | Does that category’s counter carry over? |
|---|---|---|
| Character Event Warp | Another Character Event Warp | Yes. The guaranteed 5-star character counter carries between them, according to HoYoverse’s Version 3.3 notice. |
| Light Cone Event Warp | Another Light Cone Event Warp | Yes. The guaranteed 5-star Light Cone counter carries between them, according to HoYoverse’s Version 3.3 notice. |
| Character Event Warp | Light Cone Event Warp | No. These are independent counters, according to HoYoverse’s Version 3.3 notice. |
| Light Cone Event Warp | Character Event Warp | No. These are independent counters, according to HoYoverse’s Version 3.3 notice. |
Why a banner change can look like a reset
Compare the Warp category, not just the featured character, Light Cone, event phase, or banner name. HoYoverse’s Version 3.7 Event Warp: Phase II notice, published November 25, 2025, gives an example: Ripples Rejoined and Indelible Coterie Character Event Warps shared the character counter, while Brilliant Fixation and Coalesced Truths Light Cone Event Warps shared the Light Cone counter. Differently named banners can therefore use the same counter when they belong to the same category.
What to check if a pull seems missing
- Identify the category. Check whether the pull was on a Character Event Warp or a Light Cone Event Warp.
- Compare like with like. Check the current Warp’s category against the category where you made the earlier pulls. Do not add character and Light Cone pulls together.
- Check the current Warp screen. Use the counter and category displayed for your account rather than inferring a count from banner names or an incomplete list of past pulls.
A missing entry in Warp History does not by itself establish that pity reset. The official notices cited here confirm the carry-over rules, but do not state how long pulls remain visible in history or whether a missing entry changes the counter. They also cannot show an individual account’s current count.
What these rules do not establish
The cited notices do not establish an exact pity ceiling, explain how a 5-star pull changes the counter, or specify a Warp History retention period. They also do not identify the count on any particular account. Check the current in-game Warp information for details beyond the category carry-over rules described above.
