Equinix NY4 is a colocation data center at 755 Secaucus Road in Secaucus, New Jersey—not in Manhattan. Equinix groups it within its New York metro market. The facility’s current listing gives 151,771 square feet of colocation space, N+1 power and cooling redundancy, and a 5 kVA minimum cabinet density. Its published services include cross-connects, internet access, Equinix Fabric, and other network options; availability depends on the specific deployment.

Where is Equinix NY4 located?

NY4’s published address is 755 Secaucus Road, Secaucus, NJ 07094. The “New York” designation refers to Equinix’s metro market, not a location in New York City. Secaucus is in New Jersey, across the Hudson River from Manhattan. For a deployment decision, evaluate the facility’s actual location and routes to the people, networks, and other sites your systems need to reach.

Equinix announced NY4’s opening on November 7, 2007, describing it as its fourth New York-area IBX center. That announcement reflects the facility’s history, not its current utilization or customer mix. Equinix’s opening announcement

How redundant is NY4?

Equinix’s current NY4 listing states N+1 redundancy for power and cooling. In an N+1 design, capacity includes one additional component beyond what is required to support the load, providing a margin for a component failure or maintenance. Equinix specifies N+1 for the UPS, generators, and cooling on the facility page, and lists generator autonomy of 30 hours or more at full load. These are Equinix-published facility specifications, not a guarantee that an individual customer’s complete system will remain online through every failure scenario.

For a purchase or migration decision, ask Equinix how the stated design applies to the proposed space and power configuration, and assess it alongside your own equipment redundancy, network paths, and recovery plan. A data center’s facility design alone does not establish end-to-end availability.

What power and cabinet capacity does NY4 list?

Specification Equinix’s current NY4 listing
Colocation space 151,771 ft²
Minimum cabinet density 5 kVA
Power distribution 120 V / 208 V
Power and cooling redundancy N+1
Generator autonomy 30 hours or more at full load

These figures describe Equinix’s published facility specifications; they do not identify a customer’s installed rack equipment or the exact power allocation in a contract. The NY4 page does not specify installed rack PDU models. Confirm the available voltage, circuiting, capacity, and delivery arrangement for the cabinet you plan to use.

What connectivity does NY4 offer?

NY4’s listed interconnection services include cross-connects, Equinix Internet Exchange, Equinix Internet Access, Metro Connect, and Fiber Connect. Equinix also lists Equinix Fabric, Fabric Cloud Router, and Network Edge among the digital services for the site. Whether a particular carrier, route, cloud connection, or service configuration can be delivered to a specific deployment should be confirmed directly with Equinix.

Equinix’s New York metro overview describes a regional ecosystem and cloud on-ramps for AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM, and Oracle. Those are metro-level statements: they provide context for Equinix’s New York market, but do not establish that every listed provider or connection is available in NY4 specifically. The page’s regional totals and uptime language likewise should not be read as NY4-only counts or an independently verified facility performance guarantee.

What security and certifications does Equinix list?

Equinix’s current NY4 page lists HIPAA, ISO 27001, ISO 50001, SOC 1 Type II, and SOC 2 Type II. A listing is a starting point, not proof that a particular control, service, or customer workload is covered. Before relying on a certification for compliance, verify its current documentation, scope, and applicability to the site and service you intend to use.

An older Equinix technical specification describes mantrap entry, 24/7 on-site security officers, biometric readers, and CCTV with 30-day retention and motion detection. Because this is a historical document, treat those details as descriptions in that older specification rather than confirmation of current NY4 procedures. Older NY4 technical specification

What is known about NY4’s sustainability?

Equinix’s 2022 sustainability quick reference reports 100% renewable-energy coverage for NY4 for 2022, attributed to U.S. wind virtual power purchase agreements and Green-e wind renewable energy certificates. A 2023 guide also presents NY4 entries for the 2022 reporting period, including specified Energy Star certification years and ISO 50001:2018. These are dated disclosures, not verified 2026 results. 2022 sustainability quick reference · 2023 sustainability guide

The reviewed sources do not provide a facility-specific NY4 figure for energy consumption, power usage effectiveness (PUE), or carbon emissions. Renewable-energy coverage should not be treated as a substitute for those metrics.

How should you compare NY4 with other New York-area data centers?

Compare facilities using the same criteria and keep site-level facts separate from metro-level claims.

  • Physical location and reach: Compare the actual address, latency-sensitive routes, and access to the networks or sites your workloads depend on. NY4 is in Secaucus, New Jersey.
  • Space and power: Check available cabinet or cage space, minimum density, voltage, and the power allocation offered for your configuration.
  • Resilience: Compare documented power and cooling designs, then determine how they fit your architecture and recovery requirements.
  • Security and compliance: Review current certificate documents and their scope rather than relying on a summary list alone.
  • Interconnection: Confirm that the carriers, cloud connections, cross-connects, and network services you need are available in the specific facility.
  • Sustainability: Compare reporting periods and facility-level metrics on a like-for-like basis. A historical renewable-energy coverage figure is not equivalent to current energy-use or emissions data.

NY4’s current Equinix page is the most direct source for its published facility specifications and services. The New York metro page is useful for regional context, while the older technical specification and dated sustainability guides should be read with their publication periods in mind.
