To save a place in Google Maps, open its details, select Save, and choose a list. Create and manage lists from Saved on desktop or You/Saved on mobile. Saved places are private by default; sharing a list lets others view it or, if invited, collaborate.
Before you start
Sign in to your Google Account to save places and find them across computers, phones, and tablets. Saving a place is different from downloading an offline map area or adding a place to Google Maps.

- Choose the list where you want to keep it.
On iPhone or iPad
Google’s iOS instructions direct users to create and manage lists from the Saved area. Button labels and precise steps can vary as the app interface changes.

#1 Best Overall
Organize and maintain your lists
Open Saved on desktop or You/Saved on mobile, then open the list you want to change. Depending on the platform, list controls let you edit its name, description, or icon; add notes or places; remove places; or delete the list. Desktop changes save automatically.
You can hide a list from or show it on the main map without deleting it. Google Maps Help says Saved Lists are limited to 3,000 entries and warns that larger lists may not display properly. The Help page does not state when that limit was published. On iOS, notes can be up to 4,000 characters; the Help page does not give a publication year for this limit.

Share a list or invite collaborators
Saved places are private by default: Google Maps Help says, “Only you can find your saved places unless you create and share a list of places.” Share a list by link, and review its sharing options before sending it. Depending on the options available, you can let people view the list or invite them to edit it. Google’s desktop instructions say starred places cannot be shared.
Google’s mobile instructions note that people who can view a shared list may see the names and profile photos of people who joined, as well as who added or edited places and notes. Check the list’s access and visibility before sharing it.
