You can buy and install Owlboy through Steam on Windows, macOS, and SteamOS + Linux. How to install Owlboy on PC or Mac
The following are standard Steam-client steps; Steam’s product page does not document every screen, and client labels may change.
- Install or open the Steam client for your computer.
- Sign in to your Steam account.
- Open the Owlboy store listing and acquire the game.
- In the Steam client, open your Library, select Owlboy, and choose Install.
- After the download finishes, select Play to launch the game.

Steam’s client support note says the client supports Windows 10 and later as of January 1, 2024; that is separate from the older Windows minimum OS information displayed for the game. On macOS, Steam strongly recommends using the latest macOS release. Its published Mac requirements do not specify Apple Silicon support, a particular current macOS version, or results for individual Mac models, so check the listing against your Mac’s software and graphics capabilities rather than assuming compatibility from the platform label alone.
Playing Owlboy on Steam Deck
Steam lists a SteamOS + Linux version, but that does not by itself establish a Steam Deck compatibility rating. The current official Verified or Playable classification and hands-on Deck performance are not established here. Before installing, check the live Owlboy store page and the compatibility details shown on your Steam Deck. Do not assume a rating or a particular Proton setting from the Linux listing alone.

Controller support
Steam says SDL_GameController devices are fully supported for the macOS and SteamOS + Linux versions. This identifies controller support for those platform groups; it does not mean a controller is required or confirm that a particular model was tested. See Steam’s platform notes.
