There is no verified procedure for unlocking a larger map-size preset in Transport Fever 3 (TF3). A community post mentions the experimentalMapFeatures setting in settings.lua, but it does not show that changing it unlocks a larger map. Treat it as an unverified lead, not a working fix.
What is confirmed about larger maps in TF3?
Urban Games’ official TF3 base-configuration documentation lists moddable settings, but the reviewed page does not document a map-size unlock option. The developer’s gameplay overview says some gameplay settings are moddable; it does not give a method for changing map size.
A third-party guide, last verified 20 September 2026, reported that TF3’s largest map matched TF2’s largest and that a larger experimental option was being tested, but not promised. That report is not confirmation that the option is available in the current game.
Does the TF2 settings-file method work in TF3?
Not on the evidence available. The official Transport Fever 2 manual describes enabling other map sizes through that game’s settings.lua file. That is a TF2-specific instruction; it does not establish that the same file, variable, or procedure works in TF3.

What about experimentalMapFeatures?
A Reddit post suggests turning on experimentalMapFeatures in the PC version’s settings.lua. The post does not demonstrate that this setting adds a larger map-size choice, and the official TF3 documentation reviewed does not confirm it as a map-size switch. Do not assume changing it will unlock anything.
If you choose to investigate the setting, first make a copy of the configuration file so you can restore it. Do not copy TF2 file paths or map-size variables into TF3 instructions unless current TF3 documentation confirms them.

Until a documented procedure appears, use the map sizes available in the game rather than relying on TF2 directions or an unverified configuration change.
