For most people who carry and handle a foldable all day, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is easier to use as a closed phone: it is 43 g lighter and 1.9 mm thinner than the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The Pixel is the better fit if you prioritize its IP68 rating, Google’s Pixel software and seven-year update commitment, or built-in Qi2 magnetic charging. For open-screen multitasking and demanding workloads, the advantage shifts to Samsung. The right choice depends on which daily friction matters most to you.
Which phone is easier to carry and use while folded?
On the basic burden of carrying a large foldable, Samsung has the clearest advantage. Its US specifications list the Galaxy Z Fold7 at 215 g and 8.9 mm thick when folded; Tech Advisor lists the Pixel 10 Pro Fold at 258 g and 10.8 mm. That 43 g weight gap is noticeable to the Tech Advisor reviewer and is likely to matter if you hold the phone for long stretches or carry it in a pocket all day. Cover-screen typing and reach
The cover displays are close in diagonal size: Samsung’s is 6.5 inches and Google’s is 6.4 inches. But diagonal measurements do not settle which one feels roomier. Tech Advisor found that the Fold7’s sharper display corners made its cover screen feel larger than the Pixel’s rounded-corner screen. Whether that shape makes typing or reaching controls easier depends on your hand size and habits; try both in person if cover-screen use is a deciding factor.
Which is easier for multitasking on the inner screen?
Samsung is the stronger choice for people who regularly keep several tasks in play on the unfolded display. Samsung positions One UI 8 around large-screen multitasking, and independent benchmark results also favor the Fold7’s performance. PhoneArena reported Geekbench 6 scores of 2,948 single-core and 9,365 multi-core for the Fold7, compared with 2,320 and 6,288 for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. That performance edge makes Samsung the more compelling fit for frequent multi-window work, gaming or heavier editing. If you mainly open one app at a time, benchmark differences may be less important than software familiarity: Pixel software suits people who prefer Google’s interface, while Samsung emphasizes its own large-screen multitasking approach. Neither interface is objectively easier for everyone.
Which gives more confidence around dust and water?
Google specifies IP68 resistance for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, while Samsung specifies IP48 for the Fold7. That makes the Pixel the stronger choice on the published dust-and-water rating. An IP rating is not a promise that a phone is indestructible or safe from damage in every exposure or condition.

Google also says the Pixel’s gearless hinge is “twice as durable” as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold hinge and claims over 10 years of folding. Those are Google’s manufacturer claims, not independent evidence of how long an individual phone will last. Samsung’s US specification sheet lists a 200,000-fold test claim, described as approximately 10 years of use; that, too, should be read as Samsung’s test claim rather than a guaranteed lifetime. Which is easier to live with for software and updates?
Choose based on the software environment you already like, rather than assuming one brand’s interface is universally simpler. Google lists Android 16 at the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s launch and promises seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates. Samsung’s One UI 8 is presented as built for large-screen multitasking, which may suit people who want to make greater use of the unfolded screen. Which is more convenient to charge, and which lasts longer?
Magnetic charging
The Pixel has built-in Qi2/Pixelsnap magnetic charging, a convenience if you want to use compatible magnetic chargers or stands. Confirm that a specific accessory supports the device and charging standard before buying; compatibility should not be assumed from the word “magnetic” alone. Google describes the feature in its product announcement.
Battery life depends on the test and workload
There is no single test result that establishes one phone as the universal battery winner. TechRadar’s Future Labs battery rundown lasted 12 hours 16 minutes on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and 10 hours 44 minutes on the Fold7. PhoneArena’s tests varied by workload: its web-browsing test favored the Pixel, while its gaming-endurance test favored Samsung. These are separate outlets’ results under their own test protocols, so they should not be combined as if they came from one directly comparable test.
