Chick-fil-A’s standard Spicy Chicken Sandwich has 450 calories, 1,730 mg sodium and 28 g protein per 188 g serving. Wendy’s refreshed its U.S. Spicy Chicken Sandwich in April 2026, but its current official listing does not provide numerical nutrition values. That means the available figures do not support a reliable current calorie or sodium winner.

Nutrition comparison: what the published figures show

Chick-fil-A lists the following nutrition for its standard 188 g Spicy Chicken Sandwich. The company says its figures reflect standard recipes and may not account for customizations. Wendy’s current U.S. listing identifies the refreshed sandwich but does not show comparable numerical values, so those cells are marked accordingly rather than filled with older figures.

Chick-fil-A’s figures come from its official nutrition guide. Wendy’s figures are not stated here because the current official listing does not expose them; the entries are not estimates. Since Wendy’s serving weight is also unavailable in that listing, even a later comparison of per-sandwich values should be read with serving-size differences in mind.

Why older Wendy’s nutrition numbers may not apply

On April 2, 2026, Wendy’s announced a refreshed U.S. recipe featuring a new marinade, nine-spice panko-style breading, a potato bun, homestyle mayonnaise and pickles. Its current menu description also lists lettuce and tomato alongside the chicken, pickles, mayonnaise and bun. Because the recipe changed, nutrition figures published for an earlier version should not be treated as current without confirmation. What you can conclude about calories, sodium and protein

  • Chick-fil-A calories: The standard sandwich is listed at 450 calories per 188 g serving.
  • Chick-fil-A sodium: It is listed at 1,730 mg sodium.
  • Chick-fil-A protein: It is listed at 28 g.
  • Wendy’s comparison: The current official listing reviewed does not provide numbers for these measures, so it does not establish which sandwich has fewer calories, less sodium or more protein.

These are restaurant-published nutrition disclosures, not results from a side-by-side laboratory test. Custom toppings or other order changes can also affect what is served; Chick-fil-A specifically notes that its standard-recipe information may not reflect customizations.

Ingredients and allergen considerations

Wendy’s describes the current U.S. sandwich as spicy-marinated, breaded chicken breast with lettuce, pickles, tomato, mayonnaise and a potato bun. Chick-fil-A’s published nutrition figures identify the standard item, but nutrition values alone do not establish whether either sandwich is appropriate for someone with a particular allergy.

Both restaurants warn about possible allergen cross-contact. Wendy’s says, “We are unable to guarantee that any menu item can be completely free of allergens,” and explains that common handling and preparation areas can create risk. Chick-fil-A likewise cites shared cooking and preparation areas and supplier variation as reasons it cannot ensure food is allergen-free. Check each restaurant’s current allergen guidance and nutrition and allergen information, and speak with restaurant staff if you have an allergy or sensitivity.

The recipe update cited here applies to Wendy’s U.S. sandwich; ingredients and nutrition can vary by market. Chick-fil-A’s values are for its standard listed item, not a customized order.
