For the current Nintendo Switch-era lineup, Nintendo’s Pokémon HOME compatibility FAQ names Pokémon Champions, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Pokémon Sword and Shield, and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!. That is a practical list of Switch games connected with HOME—not a complete history or official definition of every mainline Pokémon release. The key distinction: Pokémon HOME moves eligible Pokémon between supported games; it does not move a game’s save file to another console.

What Pokémon games are on Switch?

Nintendo’s current Pokémon HOME FAQ lists these Nintendo Switch titles as compatible with HOME. Compatibility does not mean every Pokémon can move into every game; destination-game rules apply.

Game or pair of games Platform and release information HOME relationship
Pokémon Champions Nintendo Switch and mobile versions; Nintendo lists the Switch version as a free download. [Nintendo software schedule] [The Pokémon Company announcement] Certain eligible Pokémon can visit from HOME. Pokémon obtained in Champions cannot be sent to HOME. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ] [The Pokémon Company announcement]
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch; Nintendo’s schedule gives October 16, 2025 as the release date. Regional dates may differ. [Nintendo software schedule] Listed for HOME connectivity. Pokémon moved into Z-A cannot be returned to previous main-series games. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ]
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Nintendo Switch. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ] Deposit and withdrawal through HOME, subject to the destination game’s eligible Pokémon. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ]
Pokémon Legends: Arceus Nintendo Switch. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ] Deposit and withdrawal through HOME, subject to game eligibility. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ]
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl Nintendo Switch. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ] Deposit and withdrawal through HOME, subject to game eligibility. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ]
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Nintendo Switch. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ] Deposit and withdrawal through HOME, subject to game eligibility. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ]
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! Nintendo Switch. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ] Pokémon can move from a Let’s Go game to a newer game, but cannot return to the original Let’s Go title. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ]
Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version Nintendo Switch software schedule lists these as downloadable-only titles. [Nintendo software schedule] Not stated in Nintendo’s HOME compatibility list cited above.

The Switch HOME catalog is useful for checking connectivity, but it should not be mistaken for a full franchise chronology. Nintendo’s release schedule is the source for the listed Switch software and release-date information; regional dates can vary.

How Pokémon HOME transfers work

Pokémon HOME is available on Nintendo Switch and compatible mobile devices. Pokémon Pokopia - Nintendo Switch 2
  • Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
  • Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
  • Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.
  • Gather materials to create items and furniture, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet, and more—there’s so much to do!
  • Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.

HOME is not a universal bridge that makes every Pokémon usable everywhere. A Pokémon can be moved only to a game in which it appears, and the receiving game’s own transfer rules also apply. Even among games that support depositing and withdrawing Pokémon, eligibility varies by title. Check the specific Pokémon and destination before moving it.

Transfers that cannot be reversed

  • A Pokémon moved from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! into a newer game cannot be returned to its original Let’s Go game.
  • A Pokémon moved into Pokémon Legends: Z-A cannot be brought back into previous main-series games. This also applies when a Pokémon from a previous main-series game is moved into Z-A.
  • Pokémon obtained in Pokémon Champions cannot be transferred into HOME. Champions accepts certain eligible Pokémon from HOME as visitors instead.

These direction limits are why a transfer should be treated as a potentially permanent move, not as a temporary loan. Confirm the destination and the applicable game-specific rule before proceeding. [Nintendo Pokémon HOME FAQ] [The Pokémon Company announcement]

Can I transfer Pokémon to a new Switch?

Yes, but distinguish moving Pokémon through HOME from moving your games and their save data between consoles. HOME manages Pokémon in compatible titles. Nintendo’s system-transfer feature migrates console users and game saves.

For HOME to connect to a game such as Scarlet or Violet, that game’s save must be present on the same console where HOME is running. Pokémon Support states: “To link Pokémon HOME with games like Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, the game’s save data must be present on the same console where you launch Pokémon HOME.” [Pokémon Support: Pokémon HOME on Nintendo Switch 2 FAQs]

Pokemon Shining Pearl - Nintendo Switch Shining Pearl Edition
  • Revisit the Sinnoh region from the original Pokémon Pearl Version game and set off to try and become the Champion of the Pokémon League
  • The Pokémon Shining Pearl game brings new life to this remade classic with added features
  • Explore the Grand Underground to dig up items and Pokémon Fossils, build a Secret Base, and more.
  • Test your style and rhythm in a Super Contest Show
  • A reimagined adventure, now for the Nintendo Switch system

If HOME no longer appears linked to a game after moving to Switch 2, check whether the relevant game save is on the console running HOME. Pokémon Support recommends using Nintendo’s system-transfer feature with the same Nintendo Account on the original Switch and Switch 2. A full transfer moves all users and their save data together. Nintendo’s earlier server-upload method resets the original Switch; local communication when a Switch 2 is already available does not reset the original console. If you want to move only selected users or saves, use Nintendo’s selective transfer instructions. Follow the current Nintendo guidance for your chosen transfer method. [Pokémon Support Switch 2 FAQ]

Why won’t Pokémon HOME link to my game?

Start with the save location: the game’s save data must be on the same console where HOME is running. This commonly matters after changing consoles. If the save is on another Switch, use Nintendo’s system-transfer process with the same Nintendo Account, or consult Nintendo’s selective-transfer guidance if you are moving only chosen data. Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! - Nintendo Switch
  • Don the role of a Pokémon Trainer as you travel through Kanto
  • Discover a new species of Pokémon with the Pokémon Lets Go series
  • Catch Pokémon in the wild using a gentle throwing motion with either a Joy-Con controller or a Poké Ball Plus accessory, which will light up, vibrate, and make sounds to bring your adventure to life
  • See the world in style by customizing Pikachu and your Trainer with a selection of outfits
  • Connect to Pokémon GO* to transfer caught Kanto-region Pokémon, including Alolan and Shiny forms, as well as the newly discovered Pokémon, Meltan, from that game to this one

Also check that the title is among the games supported by the Switch version of HOME and remember that compatibility is title-specific. A game’s connection to HOME does not guarantee that a particular Pokémon can be transferred into it.

Do I need Nintendo Switch Online or HOME Premium?

Nintendo Switch Online is not required to use Pokémon HOME, and HOME Premium is not required for Pokémon transfers on Switch or Switch 2. Premium adds separate features; check Nintendo’s current plan details for what is included and the latest pricing, which Nintendo says may change.
