No. As of October 4, 2026, Google lists the Pixel 5 among phones that no longer receive Android version updates or security updates. The Android version and security patch shown in Settings are the versions already installed on a particular phone, not evidence that Google still supports it.
What Google’s support status means for Pixel 5 owners
Google’s current Pixel software-update policy explicitly places the Pixel 5 among devices that no longer receive Android version or security updates. In practical terms, owners should not expect Google to deliver a newer Android release or a new Android security patch for this model.
A Google Pixel Product Expert gave a more specific end date in a March 6, 2024, reply in the Google Pixel Community: monthly updates for the Pixel 5 ended in November 2023. That date comes from a community answer, rather than the wording of Google’s main update-policy page.
How long Google originally promised updates
Google’s Pixel 5 technical specifications state a minimum of three years of operating-system and security updates, counted from when the phone first became available on the Google Store in the United States. That was the original minimum commitment; Google’s current policy is the clearer guide to whether the phone receives updates now.

How to check the Android version and security patch installed
- Open Settings on the Pixel 5.
- Tap About phone.
- Tap Android version. Google says this screen displays the Android version and Android security update level installed on the device. It also provides details such as the Google Play system update and build number.
Google’s instructions are available in Check and update your Android version. The version and patch level can differ between individual phones, so check the handset itself rather than assuming a single value applies to every Pixel 5.
What this means if you are considering a used Pixel 5
The Pixel 5 is not a Google-supported choice for receiving new Android version or security updates. If ongoing updates are important, compare alternatives by their remaining official OS and security support, checking Google’s current policy for each model rather than assuming a support period. The Pixel 5 specifications page describes a 2020 phone, but does not change its present update status.
