Home Assistant does not use one universal weather feed: the integration you selected controls how data arrives and what to check when it disappears. First identify the affected provider in Settings > Devices & services, then determine whether the current weather entity is unavailable, forecast data is missing, or both. Those problems can have different causes.
First identify what is unavailable
- Open Settings > Devices & services and find the integration that supplies the affected weather entity.
- Check the entity itself in Home Assistant. Is its current state marked unavailable, or is the current reading present while a forecast card or forecast request has no data?
- Use the documentation for that specific integration to check its requirements and update behavior. Home Assistant describes its Weather integration as a building block provided by other integrations, not a single data source with one shared troubleshooting fix.
If the current weather entity is unavailable
Open-Meteo
Check whether the Home Assistant instance can reach the internet and, specifically, Open-Meteo. The Open-Meteo integration documentation says the entity can recover after reachability returns and a subsequent update succeeds. Open-Meteo polls every 30 minutes, so recovery may wait for the next successful update rather than appearing immediately. This integration requires no account or API key.
Google Weather
Confirm that the integration has a valid API key and inspect Home Assistant logs for errors. Google Weather fetches current conditions every 15 minutes, according to its integration page. If the issue persists, follow that page’s guidance to enable debug logging and attach the logs when opening an issue. Its documentation also says forecast information is unavailable in South Korea and Japan; that limitation concerns forecasts, not a universal explanation for an unavailable current-conditions entity.
OpenWeatherMap
Check the API mode and version configured for the integration against the current OpenWeatherMap documentation. It says API V2.5 is no longer supported by the integration. Do not assume this is the cause unless your setup uses that mode; other configurations can have different requirements or errors.

Another cloud provider
Open that provider’s integration page and check the required credentials, supported API mode or version, geographic limitations, polling or update behavior, and troubleshooting notes. Cloud service availability and API requirements can change, so provider-specific instructions are more useful than applying another integration’s fix.
WeatherFlow local UDP
If you use WeatherFlow’s local UDP integration, verify that the Home Assistant server and the WeatherFlow device are on the same subnet. The local integration depends on that network arrangement. WeatherFlow also offers a separate cloud integration; use it only if a cloud data path fits your setup. See the WeatherFlow documentation for the available paths.

If the forecast is missing but current conditions work
Forecast data is distinct from a weather entity’s current state. Home Assistant makes forecast retrieval available through the weather.get_forecasts action, but forecast support is optional for integrations and may be daily, hourly, or twice daily. The Weather entity documentation describes these forecast types. Check whether your chosen integration supports the forecast type your dashboard or automation expects, and verify that the card or action is requesting a supported type. A working current reading does not by itself establish that forecast data is supported.
Check logs before changing configuration
Look in Home Assistant’s logs for warnings or errors associated with the affected integration; the general configuration troubleshooting guidance points users to logs as a diagnostic step. Record the integration name and any relevant error before changing credentials, API modes, or network settings. For Google Weather issues, enable debug logging and include the resulting logs when reporting the problem, as its integration documentation requests.
