Yahoo says this moves it to the inbox and that future messages from the same sender will be delivered to the inbox. Make the correction in Yahoo Mail’s app or desktop website, rather than a third-party mail client.
Move a legitimate message from Spam to your inbox
- Open Yahoo Mail in the Yahoo app or at its desktop website.
- Open the Spam folder. In New Yahoo Mail on desktop, you may need to open More options to find it.
- Select the wanted message and choose Not spam.
Yahoo documents this action as moving the message to the inbox and helping future messages from that sender reach the inbox. The precise menu location can vary by interface. Yahoo recommends managing spam in its app or desktop mail; third-party clients have their own controls, which Yahoo does not manage. Yahoo advises disabling spam filters in those clients and avoiding spam management there. See Yahoo’s spam and mailing-list instructions.
Do not select Mark as spam for mail you want to receive: Yahoo says spam reports help it route future messages from that sender to Spam. If it is a mailing list you no longer want, use Unsubscribe when available instead of reporting a wanted message as spam. Yahoo also describes spam and unsubscribe steps in its Yahoo Mail app guidance.
Check blocked senders and filters if the problem repeats
If expected mail keeps landing in Spam or another folder, review Yahoo Mail settings for accidental blocks and rules that redirect or delete messages. Yahoo’s missing-mail checklist specifically calls out the Spam folder, blocked addresses, blocked domains, and filters.

- BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.
- Review blocked addresses and domains for an unintended entry.
- Inspect filters for rules that move the sender’s mail out of the inbox or delete it.
- Check the messages already in Spam separately; changing a filter does not necessarily correct a spam classification.
Yahoo says every message passes through its spam filter before other filters are applied. Filters then run in the order listed, and conflicting rules can interfere with each other. Newly created filters do not act retroactively on mail already received. Review Yahoo’s filter troubleshooting guidance; a custom filter should not be treated as a guaranteed way to override Yahoo’s spam decision.
When a block does not match the sender you see
A visible From name or address can be spoofed, so blocking the displayed identity may not stop messages that appear to come from the same person. Yahoo recommends checking the full message headers and comparing the From address with the Received or Mailfrom fields to identify the actual sending address. If you do not know how to interpret headers, ask your email administrator or the sender for help. Yahoo explains this in its guide to identifying mail from a blocked address.

If the message is missing, not visible in Spam
First check Spam, blocked addresses and domains, and filters. If those checks do not reveal the problem, confirm that the sender used your complete Yahoo address correctly. Yahoo also suggests sending yourself a test message from a computer as an account check and advises contacting the sender’s email provider if the problem persists. These steps are for mail that cannot be found; a message already visible in Spam has the direct Not spam remedy. See Yahoo’s missing-mail troubleshooting steps.

If many Yahoo recipients report that wanted messages go to Spam, the issue may involve sending configuration or audience practices rather than one recipient’s settings. Yahoo’s Sender Hub lists these requirements and practices:

- Certified with the new FIDO2 standard, T110 provides the benefit of fast login and strong protection against phishing, account takeover as well as many other online attactks.
- Works with : Bank of America, Github, Google, Microsoft, DUO, Twitter, Facebook, Dropbox, Apple, ebay, BINANCE, mor and more.

- Authenticate mail: all senders should implement SPF or DKIM at a minimum. Bulk senders must implement both SPF and DKIM, and publish a valid DMARC policy of at least
p=nonethat passes and aligns with the From domain. - Keep complaints low: Yahoo’s current guidance, accessed in 2026, requires a spam complaint rate below 0.3%. Yahoo describes this rate in relation to mail delivered to the inbox; it is a Yahoo sender requirement, not a general deliverability benchmark or a guarantee of inbox placement.
- Configure sending IP DNS: Yahoo calls for valid forward and reverse DNS for sending IPs.
- Follow email standards: Yahoo requires compliance with RFC 5321 and RFC 5322.
- Make subscribed mail easy to leave: bulk marketing or subscribed mail must support one-click unsubscribe and include a visible unsubscribe link in the message body. Yahoo says unsubscribe requests must be honored within two days.
- Send mail recipients expect: reduce unwanted or unexpected messages and review Yahoo’s current Sender Best Practices, because Yahoo says requirements may change.
Yahoo says enforcement of its sender requirements began in February 2024 and was to be gradually rolled out through the first half of that year. Yahoo does not publish a numeric volume threshold for classifying a sender as “bulk”; its Sender Hub FAQ says assessment can consider the authenticated or From domain and other information, including content and IP. These sender-side checks do not change an individual recipient’s Yahoo account settings, just as selecting Not spam does not fix a domain-wide sending configuration.
