If recovery boots will not inflate or connect, first identify the exact model and system type: a hose-connected pump, a controller with a junction box, or integrated boots that pair wirelessly. Then check power, session state, air connections and pairing using that model’s manual. Inflation trouble and Bluetooth trouble can be separate issues; do not open the unit or try another model’s plugs, charger or pairing steps.
Identify your recovery boot system first
Find the model name on the controller, boots or manual before troubleshooting. Procedures differ between generations and regions, even within one brand. Therabody’s JetBoots Get Started page links to manuals for multiple JetBoots and RecoveryAir products; use the manual for your exact model and region.

Do not assume that a plug, charger, hose or pairing procedure from another model will fit or work.
If nothing starts
Check power and the session
- For Normatec 2.0: Check that the wall outlet works, firmly connect the specified power supply, and turn on the controller. Hyperice lists a unit that is off, a loose power-supply connection and a faulty outlet among the causes to check. If the battery is low, plug in the unit to charge. See the Normatec 2.0 user manual.
- For Therabody JetBoots Prime: The global manual says a USB-C adapter below 20 W may not provide enough power for simultaneous operation and charging. Let the boots charge before use or use an adequate adapter as the JetBoots Prime manual directs. This note applies to JetBoots Prime, not recovery boots generally.
- For a controller that powers on but does not start treatment: Check that you have actually started a session. On Normatec 2.0, press the play/pause control to begin.
If the controller runs but the boots do not inflate
For Hyperice Normatec 2.0
- Fully insert the hose into the control unit and check that every attachment is firmly seated in its junction-box outlet; the connectors should click into place.
- Zip each zippered attachment completely.
- If using one attachment, fit the supplied blocking plug into the unused junction-box outlet.
For Therabody RecoveryAir JetBoots
- Inspect the hoses for kinks, twists or folds, then fasten the air connections securely.
- If treating one limb, use the supplied prong plug in the unused outlet as described in the RecoveryAir JetBoots USA manual. This is a different setup from the Normatec 2.0 junction-box blocking plug.
If inflation is partial, uneven or stops with an error
Look for loose or visibly damaged connections, kinked hoses and signs of an air leak in the hose, attachment or bladder. Reseat connections; do not puncture a bladder or dismantle the controller.

Normatec 2.0: isolate the attachment, control unit and hose
Hyperice’s error-message guide, published July 19, 2022, provides separate checks to help identify the affected component:
- Test each attachment directly on the unit using the guide’s specified setup. Do not wear an attachment during this test.
- Test the control unit without the hose or attachments.
- Test the hose with its blocking plug, following the guide’s setup.
Note which check produces an error and share the results with Hyperice Support. Use the guide’s instructions for the exact setup; do not improvise a plug.

Therabody JetBoots Prime: reseat and inspect the air path
The JetBoots Prime manual identifies the air-hose connection or bladder as possible leak locations. Inspect and reseat the hose at the bladder nozzle. If the problem persists, contact Therabody through its support route.
If the boots will not connect to each other or a phone
Normatec 2.0 and phone Bluetooth
For app pairing, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on both the controller and the phone. A Bluetooth connection is not required for the Normatec 2.0 controller to operate: Hyperice’s manual says, “The Normatec 2.0 control unit is completely autonomous, and will continue operating normally, even during a loss of connectivity.” If the controller runs but the app does not connect, troubleshoot Bluetooth separately from an inflation fault.

Therabody boots pairing with each other
For the older RecoveryAir JetBoots pump model, the manual describes holding the pressure and time buttons together for five seconds to enable pairing if the boots were not pre-paired. Confirm that step in the manual for your specific model before trying it.
For JetBoots Prime, power on both boots, keep them close together, check both battery levels and look at the connection indicators. If they remain unconnected, follow the linking procedure in the JetBoots Prime manual. Contact Therabody if linking succeeds but the fault continues.

When to stop troubleshooting and contact support
Stop using the system if equipment appears damaged or abnormal operation continues after the model-specific checks. Do not open the control unit, repair wiring, puncture bladders or substitute an incompatible charger or hose. The Normatec 2.0 manual states that the system has no user-serviceable parts and directs users to customer service for suspected damage or abnormal operation. Contact the manufacturer through its official support route and provide the model name and any error or component-isolation results.
If troubleshooting points to a damaged Normatec 2.0 hose, Hyperice identifies hoses as replacement parts or accessories; confirm exact model and connector fit with Hyperice before buying a replacement. Compatibility and availability from other sellers are not established by the manufacturer troubleshooting material.
