There is no single size-up or size-down rule for every UGG boot. Start with the size guide beside the exact style’s size selector, choose the size format used by the regional storefront, then check the fit at your heel, midfoot and toes. UGG Australia’s general cue is a snug heel and midfoot with room to wiggle your toes.
Start with the exact boot’s size guide
UGG Australia says each product listing has a detailed size guide next to its size selector. Use that guide for the specific boot you are considering rather than relying on a conversion chart or a size you wear in another shoe. The help page says shoppers can switch between US, UK, EU and centimeter formats, so make sure the format matches the storefront where you are shopping. Product fit notes matter too: official guidance for one boot family should not be assumed to apply to every UGG style.
Check the fit at heel, midfoot and toes
UGG Australia describes a properly fitting shoe as snug at the heel and midfoot, with wiggle room around the toes. Use that as a fit check, not as a numerical sizing or conversion rule. If possible, try on both boots and assess each foot; use the exact product’s fit notes alongside how the boots feel.

What to know about Classic boots
The US product page for the UGG Classic Tall II says its Classics may feel slightly snug at first and could gradually stretch and adapt because of the natural properties of sheepskin. This is guidance for the Classics, not a guarantee for every UGG boot. It does not establish a universal reason to choose a smaller size.
Choosing a size for children
UGG’s printable children’s measuring guide provides a measuring process and advice for children’s sizing. Follow that guide and the children’s chart rather than using adult fit guidance as a substitute.

- Print the UGG children’s measuring guide at the scale specified on the guide.
- Have the child stand with the heel positioned at the guide, mark the longest toe, and repeat for the other foot.
- Use the measurement with the children’s chart. UGG advises rounding up when the child falls between sizes and notes that a slightly larger size may allow for growing feet.
- Re-measure as needed instead of relying on an older measurement.
These measuring and between-size instructions are for children’s sizing. Adults should use the current size chart on the product page for their chosen boot. UGG’s children’s measuring guide includes the instructions and chart.

UGG UK describes a “What is my UGG size?” flow that uses a photo to return a size and offers women’s, men’s and kids’ paths. Availability is regional, so check whether the feature appears on your local UGG storefront and on the product page you are using. Its presence is not established for every country or storefront. - Open the size guide beside the selector for the exact boot style.
- Confirm whether the storefront is showing US, UK, EU or centimeter sizing.
- Use the product’s fit notes, then check for a snug heel and midfoot with toe wiggle room.
- For children, measure both feet with UGG’s children’s guide, use its chart and account for growth as advised.
