You can turn off Apple Intelligence across iOS, disable selected features such as summaries and Smart Replies, or use Screen Time to restrict access to certain AI tools. The right controls depend on your device and the feature: iPhone and iPad settings are not identical to Mac settings, and some options are inside individual apps.
Turn off Apple Intelligence broadly on iPhone
- Open Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Turn off the Apple Intelligence switch.
Apple says this switch turns off Apple Intelligence across iOS. If you only want to stop one behavior, leave the broad switch on and use its individual control instead. Apple’s iPhone guide lists available feature controls.
Turn off individual features on iPhone
Use the setting that matches the behavior you want to stop. The exact options depend on your iPhone and software version.

Turn off Siri AI
To turn off the Siri AI beta on iPhone, open Settings > Siri and tap Turn Off Siri. Apple says you can turn Siri back on and choose Siri Classic where that option is supported. This is separate from the broad Apple Intelligence switch. Apple’s iPhone guide describes the Siri option.
Adjust Apple Intelligence on iPad
Apple lists controls for Messages summaries, Mail summary previews, notification summaries, and priority notifications on iPad. Use the corresponding app or notification settings on your iPad, and check Apple’s feature guide for the controls available to your software version. A given iPad may not support Apple Intelligence or every listed feature.

Turn off Apple Intelligence features on Mac
On Mac, Apple divides controls between System Settings and the apps that use the feature:

Use Screen Time to restrict access to AI tools
Screen Time is useful when the goal is to prevent access to categories of tools, rather than simply stop a summary or suggestion. Apple says these restrictions can cover Writing Tools, image creation features—including Image Playground, Genmoji, and Image Wand where supported—and Intelligence Extensions such as ChatGPT.
- On iPhone: Open Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions and enable Content & Privacy Restrictions if needed.
- Open Intelligence & Siri.
- Choose whether to allow each listed category.

Why a setting may be missing
- Device support: Apple Intelligence is not available on every iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and not every supported device has every feature.
- Software version: Menu labels and locations can change between operating-system versions. Follow the closest matching setting on your installed version if a path differs.
- Language and region: Apple says availability varies by language and region; some features, including newer Siri AI capabilities, have additional eligibility limits.
