Before unlinking a console, confirm which Epic account holds the progress you want. Epic does not merge progress between accounts, and changing a link does not transfer one account’s history to another.
Start by checking which Epic account has your progress
Fortnite progress is associated with an Epic Games account, not stored as a separate history that can be merged from a PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account. Seeing an empty profile can mean you signed into a different Epic account, or that your console is linked to an account other than the one with your progress. Epic also notes that declining to sign in after unlinking can result in a new Epic account with no progress. An empty account alone does not prove the original progress was deleted. - Sign in to each Epic account you may have used and identify the one that contains the Fortnite progress you want.
- Check which Epic account is connected to your console account before changing any links.
- If the console is connected to the wrong Epic account, follow Epic’s unlinking and relinking instructions to connect it to the account with the progress you want to access.
Relinking gives the platform access to the selected Epic account’s history; it does not move or combine the history from the other account. If you want to preserve access to both histories, keep the Epic accounts separate.
Choose the right account before syncing platforms
To access the same Fortnite progress across platforms, link each platform account to the Epic account that holds that progress. Epic permits one account of each platform type per Epic account, and a platform account cannot be linked to more than one Epic account at a time. Epic Games Support: Link a console account

If separate platform histories exist, decide which one you want to access across devices. Epic says progress between Epic accounts cannot be merged: “Epic Games Support cannot merge progress between accounts.” Linking platforms to one account makes that account’s progress available; it does not combine histories. To retain access to both, leave them on separate Epic accounts. Epic Games Support: Can I merge my Epic Games accounts?
Fix the “You haven’t signed in on this account before” error
First check whether the PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account appears under Linked accounts for the Epic account currently signed in. If it is absent, use the platform-specific linking flow. If it is listed but the error continues, check that the Epic account in your browser or game session is the one linked to that console account. Players who skipped registration may also need to complete the automatically created Epic account’s details. Epic Games Support: “You haven’t signed in on this account before”

Resolve a platform account that is already linked
If Epic says a platform account is linked to another Epic account, identify the Epic account it is actually connected to and manage the link from that account. Epic also allows only one account of each platform type on an Epic account at a time. A message that a different account of the same platform type was previously linked may mean you need to remove a linking restriction before replacing it.
Epic says that restriction can be removed once every 365 days; it cannot be bypassed. Confirm that you have selected the correct platform and Epic accounts before proceeding. If the Epic account being removed has an active Fortnite Crew subscription, Epic advises canceling it first; it will not receive new rewards after unlinking. Recover an account if access may be compromised
A sudden loss of access or progress on an account you previously used may involve account compromise, not just a sync issue. Epic’s recovery guidance starts with securing the email address attached to the account:
- Change the email account’s password and enable two-factor authentication (2FA). If you cannot access the email, use its provider’s recovery process.
- Reset your Epic Games password and try signing in through a linked console or social account.
- If the Epic account email was changed to an address you do not control, or you still cannot get in, submit an Epic account recovery request.
- After regaining access, reset the Epic password and enable 2FA again.

Understand why V-Bucks may differ between platforms
A different V-Bucks balance does not necessarily mean account linking failed. Sharing depends on where purchased V-Bucks originated, while V-Bucks earned through Fortnite Passes, Quest Packs, or Save the World are shared. Contact Epic Support if the progress is still missing
If you have confirmed the Epic account and followed Epic’s relinking instructions but still cannot access the progress, submit a support ticket through Epic Games Support. Support can assist with access and account issues, but it cannot merge Fortnite progress between Epic accounts.
