It places players in Los Angeles as human or Replicant Blade Runners in the LAPD Rep-Detect Unit. The franchise does have a video game, Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition, but it is a separate adventure set in 2019.
What is Blade Runner 2037?
It is the year and setting associated with Free League Publishing and Alcon Entertainment’s officially licensed Blade Runner tabletop roleplaying game. The game’s campaign description places it in Los Angeles shortly after the Wallace Corporation introduces Nexus-9 Replicants on Earth. Players take the roles of Blade Runners, choosing to portray humans or Replicants with their own specialties, personalities, and memories. BackerKit’s game description outlines the premise, while Free League’s Starter Set page identifies the product.
That means the phrase “upcoming game” can be misleading: the official materials cited here describe a tabletop RPG, not an announced video game titled Blade Runner 2037. They do not establish a release date, platforms, developer, or gameplay for such a video game.

How does 2037 fit into the Blade Runner timeline?
The year 2037 marks one setting for licensed Blade Runner storytelling; it is not a film sequel date or a video-game release year. Other licensed story material occupies different points in the franchise’s timeline. Penguin Random House’s Blade Runner catalog includes material associated with Blade Runner: Black Lotus in 2032 and the graphic-novel series Blade Runner 2039, which follows Ash in 2039. These examples orient readers, but they do not amount to an exhaustive continuity guide.

How is it different from Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition?
Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition is a restored version of the classic adventure video game, not another name for the 2037 RPG. Nightdive Studios places its story in Los Angeles in November 2019 and links to storefronts for Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and GOG. Its format and setting are therefore distinct from the tabletop game’s 2037 setting. See Nightdive’s Enhanced Edition page.

Is there another Blade Runner game announced for 2027?
A May 11, 2026 announcement describes a Behaviour Interactive and PHI Studio immersive Blade Runner experience planned to launch in North American cities starting in 2027. The announcement presents it as an immersive experience, not as a conventional video game called Blade Runner 2037. See the May 11, 2026 announcement for its stated scope.

What should you choose if you want to experience the setting?
If you want to play as a Blade Runner in the 2037 setting, the Starter Set is the relevant product: it is explicitly a tabletop RPG introduction with a case file, characters, map, and physical play materials. If you want a video game, Enhanced Edition is the separate adventure game set in 2019. The available official descriptions do not support treating either one as a video-game release called Blade Runner 2037.
Free League’s 2022 Kickstarter page reports 15,323 backers and SEK 16,513,148 pledged for the RPG campaign, which ran May 3–26, 2022. Those are crowdfunding figures, not game sales. The campaign page says it was last updated June 12, 2024.
