If your PS5 has no picture, flickers, reports 1080p instead of 4K, or does not seem to show HDR on an LG UN7300, start by checking the signal and HDMI path—not by assuming either device is faulty. Connect the PS5 directly to the TV, verify the output in the PS5 video settings, and adjust only the setting that matches your symptom. The exact UN7300 model suffix matters when checking LG support information.
Check what the PS5 is actually outputting
On the PS5, open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output. Check the current video output signal and the connected HDMI device information. Sony says the console detects the TV’s capabilities and automatically selects the best available resolution; the reported information helps distinguish a configuration issue from a missing or limited signal. Sony’s PS5 resolution guide explains these output options.
Identify the symptom before changing settings: a blank screen calls for HDMI and input checks; flicker points to signal stability; a reported resolution below 4K calls for resolution checks; and an HDR concern calls for the HDR setting and content support to be checked.
Fix a blank screen or missing signal
- Make sure the HDMI cable is firmly connected at both the PS5 and TV, and select the LG input to which the console is connected.
- If the screen remains blank, try another HDMI port on the TV and, if available, a known-good HDMI cable. Sony recommends the HDMI 2.1 cable included with the PS5 for its high-performance features, but older HDMI cables can also be used; a new cable is not automatically required.
- Temporarily connect the PS5 directly to the TV. Remove a receiver, sound bar, capture device, switch, or other HDMI equipment from the video path while testing. If direct connection restores the image, reconnect intermediary devices one at a time to identify where the signal is being interrupted.
These checks follow Sony’s PS5 picture and sound troubleshooting guidance. Avoid changing multiple video settings before ruling out the input, cable, port, and intermediary equipment.

Get a 4K picture
Start with Automatic resolution
In Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output, set Resolution to Automatic first. The PS5 is designed to detect the connected display’s capabilities and choose the best available resolution. Check the output signal shown on the same screen to see what it negotiated.
Select 2160p if needed
If the TV is identified as a compatible 4K screen but the PS5 is not outputting 4K, select 2160p under Resolution. Sony identifies 2160p as the PS5’s 4K output setting for a compatible 4K display. If 2160p is unavailable or the signal still does not behave as expected, return to Automatic and recheck the HDMI path and connected-device information rather than assuming the TV or console has failed.

4K capability on the console alone does not guarantee a 4K signal through every cable, selected input, intermediary device, or display configuration. Sony notes that image quality depends on the home entertainment setup.
Reduce flicker in 4K
If a 4K picture flickers, open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output and try 4K Video Transfer Rate at -1. If flicker continues, test -2. These options limit some output modes: at -1, 4K HDR at 50/60 Hz uses YUV422 or YUV420, while -2 limits output further. Treat them as diagnostic adjustments, then check the resulting video output signal and picture quality. See Sony’s resolution guide for details.

Set up HDR on the PS5
Open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > HDR. Choose On When Supported if you want supported HDR games and apps to use HDR while non-HDR content remains in SDR. Always On converts non-HDR content to HDR output; it changes the output behavior and is not a test of whether the TV supports HDR. Use Adjust HDR as a separate calibration option after choosing the desired HDR behavior. Sony documents these settings in its PS5 video output guide.
Check the exact LG UN7300 model before updating
“LG UN7300” refers to a model family, not one complete model number. Find the full suffix on the TV’s label or in its support information, then use the LG support page and owner’s manual that match the screen size and region. Menu labels and software applicability should not be presumed identical across every UN7300 variant.

For example, LG’s US support page for model 55UN7300PUF.AUS lists software version 04.64.00 dated 2026-05-13 and directs owners to check the applicable model list. That package is not evidence that the same update applies to every UN7300: verify that your full model number is included before installing it.
