For routine cleaning, wipe your G-SHOCK and band with a soft cloth. Rinse off salt water or mud with clean fresh water only after checking your model’s manual and water-resistance marking. Clean resin, metal, and leather differently: resin can be washed with water, metal band sections can be brushed with weak mild-neutral soapy water, and leather should be wiped rather than washed. Casio’s user-maintenance guidance recommends these material-specific methods.
Before you clean: check the materials and water-resistance marking
Identify which parts are resin, metal, or leather, then check the water-resistance marking on the case back and the manual for your exact G-SHOCK model. Water resistance varies by watch, and seals can wear over time, so an original rating does not guarantee that an older or damaged watch remains water resistant. If you are unsure about its condition, avoid rinsing it and consult an authorized service center.
Casio warns not to press buttons or operate the crown while the watch is wet or submerged. Even if a model is water resistant, do not treat that as permission to wash the entire watch with detergent or soak it.
How to clean a G-SHOCK band by material
Resin band
Wash the resin band with water, then wipe it dry with a soft cloth. Casio says a smudge-like pattern can sometimes appear on resin and can be wiped away with a cloth. Avoid scrubbing it with abrasive cleaners.

Metal band or metal parts on a resin band
Wrap the watch case in kitchen plastic wrap so it does not contact the soap or detergent solution. Use a soft toothbrush or similar tool to clean the metal band with a weak solution of water and mild neutral detergent, or with soapy water. Rinse detergent from the band and dry it with a soft absorbent cloth. This method is for the band or metal parts, not unrestricted washing or immersion of the watch case.
Leather band
Do not wash or soak a leather band. Wipe away water and sweat with a soft cloth, following Casio’s general maintenance guidance.

Routine wipe-down and salt or mud residue
Everyday dirt and sweat
Frequently wipe the watch and band with a soft cloth to remove dirt, sweat, water, and other residue. Use a clean, soft cloth rather than a rough or abrasive material.
After seawater, chlorine, or mud
Casio recommends rinsing away sea water or mud with clean fresh water. Its G-SHOCK water-resistance guidance also recommends fresh-water rinsing after salt water, chlorine, dirt, or other residue, followed by drying with a soft cloth. Apply this only when your model’s manual and the watch’s condition support rinsing; keep controls untouched while the watch is wet or submerged.

What not to use
Do not use solvents, gasoline, thinner, oils, fats, abrasive cleaners, or cleaners and cosmetics containing those ingredients. Casio warns these substances can discolor or damage resin and other watch parts. For a metal band, use only the weak mild-neutral detergent or soapy-water method described above, and keep the case shielded from the solution.

If you see moisture inside the glass or fogging that does not clear, stop using the watch and contact the retailer or an authorized service center. Casio says water-resistance seals require periodic replacement; its general guidance gives an approximate interval of two to three years, but the exact manual and local authorized service advice should govern your watch.
