This guide interprets “Neat Videos” as Neat Video, the noise-reduction plug-in for video-editing apps—not your video files or the separate Neat document-scanning service. Before removing anything, identify the host app where the plug-in is installed and decide whether you want to uninstall the plug-in, free storage, or both.
First, identify what you want to remove
Neat Video is a plug-in used inside supported video-editing applications. Its installation and visibility depend on the host app, so a generic Mac app-removal step may not remove every component or make the effect disappear from every host.
- To remove the plug-in: note the host application and Neat Video version, then check the installer or Neat Video support for instructions for that combination.
- To free storage but keep your videos: locate the large media files and move only the files you choose to a verified copy elsewhere.
- To delete video files: review and back up anything you may want later before deleting it.
Quit the host application before making changes. Neat Video’s download and compatibility page lists Mac downloads and supported hosts; it reported version 6.1.3 on May 26, 2026. The page is not a verified, universal uninstall guide.
Remove Neat Video without guessing at plug-in folders
- Record your setup. Write down the host application, its version, the Neat Video version, and your macOS version.
- Look for the product’s own removal option. Check the Neat Video installer or official support for steps specific to your installed version and host. Apple recommends using an app’s supplied uninstaller when available, because it can also remove associated items stored outside the app itself. See Apple’s app removal guidance.
- Do not delete plug-in folders by guesswork. The correct removal procedure can vary by host and version, and a current host-specific procedure for every Mac setup is not established here. If you cannot find an uninstaller or removal option, ask Neat Video support for instructions using the setup details you recorded.
- Check the host after removal. Reopen the editing application and see whether Neat Video remains available. If it does, stop rather than deleting more files at random; contact Neat Video support with your host, plug-in, and macOS versions.
Apple’s general fallback for an app with no uninstaller is to quit it, locate it in Finder, move it to Trash, and empty Trash when you are sure you no longer need it. That generic procedure does not establish how to remove every Neat Video plug-in from every host, so do not assume that treating a plug-in like a standalone app will remove it completely.

Free Mac storage while keeping important videos
- Open Storage settings. On macOS Ventura 13 or later, go to System Settings > General > Storage. On earlier macOS versions, use About This Mac > Storage.
- Find the media you actually want to move or remove. Review large video files separately from Neat Video. “System Data” is a broad category for Apple and third-party files that do not fit another category, not a single identifiable Neat Video folder.
- Copy wanted videos to another storage device. An external drive is one option, not a requirement. Open the copied videos from the destination to verify that they work before deleting the originals.
- Delete only the intended originals. Move files you no longer want to Trash. Files in Trash continue to use storage until you empty it, so inspect Trash before doing so.
Apple’s storage instructions are in Free up storage space on Mac. Uninstalling an app does not automatically remove documents or other files created with it, although the app may be needed to open them. That general rule does not establish whether uninstalling Neat Video changes any particular project, so preserve project files and media you need independently.
