If your iPhone 18 Pro charges slowly or inconsistently on a MagSafe charger, test it once with the case and anything between the phone and charger removed. Apple recommends removing a thick, metal, or battery case when wireless charging is slow or absent. A case is only one possible cause: placement, a USB connection, or heat can also affect charging.
How a case can affect MagSafe charging
MagSafe chargers attach to supported iPhones or MagSafe cases. Magnets help align the charger for wireless charging, so a case that is thick or contains metal may be worth testing without. Apple does not say that all cases interfere, and its support guidance does not identify any particular third-party iPhone 18 Pro case as a cause.
Objects placed between the phone and charger can also affect wireless charging. Apple specifically advises removing an attached iPhone Leather Wallet before placing the MagSafe charger. Cards and some RFID items may be damaged by magnets, so remove them rather than leaving them between the phone and charger.
Test whether the case is the problem
- Remove wallets, cards, and other objects attached to or resting between the iPhone and charger.
- Take off the case and place the iPhone directly on the charger. Apple recommends this test for a thick, metal, or battery case when charging is slow or does not start.
- Set the charger on a level surface and position the phone as its maker recommends. MagSafe charging should show a charging symbol when it starts; Apple says wireless charging may take a few seconds to begin.
- Compare the result with and without the case. If charging starts or becomes consistent only when the case is off, the case or something attached to it is implicated. That test does not establish which case feature is responsible.
If removing the case does not help

- USB connection: If the iPhone is connected to USB, it charges through that connection rather than wirelessly.
- Heat: If the iPhone gets too warm, software may limit charging above 80 percent.
- Placement: Make sure the charger is level and the phone is positioned according to the charger’s instructions. Look for the charging symbol after placement.
- Charger: If the same problem continues with the case and intervening objects removed, try another known-good charger that is compatible with the iPhone before seeking support.
Apple’s MagSafe charger guidance lists iPhone 18 Pro as supported, but charger compatibility does not verify a third-party case or prove that a specific case caused a charging issue.
Choosing a case if the test points to yours
Before buying a replacement, check the case maker’s listing for an explicit iPhone 18 Pro fit and stated MagSafe compatibility. Also compare its materials and thickness, any stated magnetic attachment strength, and the seller’s return terms. These are practical checks based on Apple’s alignment and case-removal advice, not an Apple certification checklist. No specific third-party case is established here as a fix.
