Keep a separate log of track names and start times: it helps viewers follow the live program, and it gives you accurate timestamps for chapters on a replay. Do not rely on YouTube to save a complete 24/7 broadcast—streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured.
1. Clear rights for every part of the program
Before streaming, confirm you have permission for every meditation recording, sound effect, spoken passage, visual, piece of artwork, and transition. Check that the rights cover YouTube livestreaming, the territories where viewers may watch, repeated or continuous playback, monetization if applicable, and archived playback.
YouTube requires streamers to hold the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights. It also scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A license alone may not prevent an interruption: YouTube notes that licensed content can still be interrupted if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel. Do not assume that a recording is safe to use because it is available online, labeled “royalty-free,” or credited in your description. Verify the actual license and its scope; YouTube’s documentation cannot determine whether a particular track is cleared for your use.

2. Choose how to keep the live feed running
A YouTube playlist of published videos is not itself a continuous live event. You need a feed sent by an encoder or a hosted service. Choose based on who will operate the stream and how you plan to handle replays.

For local streaming, use the ingest method supported by your encoder and YouTube setup. YouTube documents HLS as an option that requires an HLS-capable encoder and an HLS stream key; it has higher latency than RTMP because it sends segments. The HLS guide specifies segment settings, but HLS is not automatically the best choice for every meditation stream.

3. Assemble the program and test the feed
Build a running order
List tracks in playback order and note their exact start times. Include non-music segments such as silence, guided practice, or transitions if viewers will want to find them. Use labels that accurately describe what plays, and keep the list updated if you change the sequence.
Check the complete viewing experience
Before announcing the stream, run a controlled test, such as an unlisted broadcast. Check sound levels, transitions, visual continuity, the stream’s status, and the viewer-facing description. Test the actual source and playback order rather than assuming a playlist or media file will repeat as intended. No setup can guarantee uninterrupted operation; the local encoder, network, hosted service, and YouTube connection can all fail.

4. Keep track labels and timestamps accurate
Maintain a log with elapsed time from the start of the live event and the exact title of each segment. For example:
00:00 Opening breath practice
12:30 Singing bowls — session 1
28:00 Silent meditation
45:00 Rain ambienceThese are illustrative labels. For viewers watching live, put the current or complete tracklist in the description or another clearly identified place they can access. If the stream changes and your workflow allows it, update the list. YouTube’s chapter documentation describes chapters for videos; it does not establish a dedicated automatic track-label feature for a live meditation stream.

5. Add chapters to a replay in YouTube
YouTube chapters are timestamped sections on a video, not a substitute for maintaining an accurate live tracklist. Once you have a replay that you intend viewers to navigate:
- Open YouTube Studio and select the video.
- Edit the video description and add each timestamp followed by the chapter title, using your track log to verify the times.
- Start with
00:00, include at least three timestamps in ascending order, and make each chapter at least 10 seconds long. - Save the description and check the video to confirm the chapters appear as expected.
Manual chapters override automatic chapters. Chapter availability can depend on eligibility and access to advanced features, and not every video qualifies for automatic chapters. See YouTube: Add chapters to a video.

6. Plan separately for a replay
YouTube says it can automatically archive a livestream if it is less than 12 hours. It warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so a single uninterrupted 24/7 event is not a dependable way to produce a complete chaptered replay. YouTube recommends making a local recording as a backup. For a replay viewers can navigate, record locally or publish shorter live events, then create a separate on-demand version with verified chapters. See YouTube: Archive live streams.
