If you only need a recording to repeat in a web player—not to appear as a live broadcast—use YouTube’s IFrame player loop parameters instead.
Choose between a live broadcast and a looping video embed
Decide first what the website visitor needs to see. A YouTube Live broadcast creates a live watch page and broadcast surface for the demo. A regular video embed can repeat a published recording, but it does not create a live stream.
| Approach | What visitors see | Best fit | Operating responsibility |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stream a looped source through an encoder | A YouTube Live broadcast embedded on the product site | A live broadcast presence, live watch page, or production with scenes and overlays | The team running the encoder must keep its computer and network available, or use a hosted service |
| Embed a regular YouTube video with looping enabled | A repeating recording in the YouTube player | A continuously repeating demo playback when a live broadcast is unnecessary | YouTube player parameters control playback; no encoder feed is needed |
YouTube describes live streaming as a way to interact with an audience in real time through a video feed, chat, and more. A prerecorded feature demo can supply the video feed, but it remains prerecorded content rather than a live camera presentation.
Check YouTube channel readiness before setup
- The channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days.
- Enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until launch day.
- An encoder is appropriate for screen content and production controls. YouTube’s encoder workflow is documented at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Set up a looping demo in OBS Studio
Loop one feature-demo video
- Open OBS Studio and add a Media Source to the scene that will feed the broadcast.
- Select the local demo video file. OBS Media Source supports common formats including MP4 and WebM.
- Enable the source’s Loop option so the file starts again when playback completes. OBS documents this control in its Media Sources guide.
- Arrange and preview the scene. Confirm that the video fills the intended canvas and that any audio you intend to include is present at a usable level.
Loop a sequence of demos
- Install VLC on the computer running OBS; the OBS VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed.
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source and add the demo files to its playlist in the desired order.
- Enable Loop Playlist and preview the sequence, including the transition from the last item back to the first.
Use one file when the demo should repeat without interruption between different features. Use a playlist when the site should rotate through multiple demos. OBS’s documentation establishes the loop controls, but not a service-level uptime guarantee: the computer, OBS process, and network still need to remain available.

Create the YouTube Live feed and connect OBS
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder-based stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream into the corresponding encoder connection settings in OBS. The key authorizes an encoder to send a feed to your channel; treat it like a password.
- Start the OBS stream and wait for the feed to appear in Live Control Room’s preview before making the broadcast public.
- When testing, use a private or unlisted stream where appropriate. Check the preview, watch page, audio, video, and playback on a phone before relying on the feed.
YouTube’s live stream settings help covers stream settings and privacy controls. If a key is exposed, reset it in YouTube’s settings rather than continuing to use a compromised credential.
Check bandwidth and playback before publishing
- Leave upload capacity above the encoder’s stream bitrate. YouTube recommends 20% upload-bandwidth room; this is an operational recommendation, not a guarantee that a particular connection will remain stable.
- Set up the encoder in advance and verify that the preview receives the intended video and audio.
- Confirm the event is visible on the channel and watch pages, and test the watch page on mobile.
- Monitor stream quality while it runs and check that the archive, if you need one, is intact.
- Make sure you have the rights needed for every video, audio track, logo, and other material in the demo. A loop does not change the rights status of its contents or guarantee that YouTube will allow a broadcast to remain available.

Embed the broadcast on the product website
- Open the YouTube Live watch page for the broadcast and use YouTube’s embed flow to get the player embed code.
- Place that embed code in the product page where the live demo should appear. Use the live watch page’s player, rather than adding regular-video loop parameters to make a live stream.
- Load the page on desktop and mobile and confirm that the player appears and can be watched by the intended audience. Also verify that the live event is accessible on its YouTube watch page.
If your actual goal is a repeating regular video, Google’s YouTube Embedded Players and Player Parameters documents the alternative. For a single video, set loop=1 and set playlist to the same video ID used in the embed. That repeats playback in the embedded player; it does not create or keep a live broadcast running.
Choose who operates the continuous stream
| Option | What it does | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Loops uploaded videos or a playlist from the cloud to YouTube, without keeping a home computer running | Teams that want an always-on prerecorded YouTube stream without operating a local encoder | It is a hosted service for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed; check the plan and storage allowance against your needs |
| OBS Studio on a maintained computer | Loops a local file or playlist and sends the encoder feed to YouTube Live | Teams needing scene control, overlays, or a software workflow they operate themselves | The computer, network connection, and encoder process must remain available and monitored |
| Regular looping YouTube video embed | Repeats a published recording in the site’s player without producing a live broadcast | Teams that need repeating playback rather than a live status or broadcast surface | It is not a live feed and does not provide a live watch page |
For a hosted continuous stream, confirm that the provider’s current features, limits, rights handling, pricing, and terms fit your use before choosing it. A provider listing or directory entry alone does not establish those details.
