This is the vendor’s workaround for pages whose scrolling or height behavior prevents a normal full-page capture; it is not guaranteed to work on every site.
Use the right import route for the page
| Page or goal | Route | How it reaches Figma |
|---|---|---|
| Public page available at an open URL | Paste the URL in html.to.design’s plugin Web tab and select Import. | Directly into the plugin. |
| Private, local, logged-in, or session-specific page | Open it in Chrome and capture the current browser page with the html.to.design extension. | Send the capture to the plugin or save it as a .h2d file and drop it into the plugin. |
| A full-page capture is cut off | Use the extension with Chrome Developer Tools Device Mode and a very large viewport height. | Import the generated .h2d file into the plugin. |
Use the extension route when the capture needs the state of the page already open in your browser. The direct URL route is intended for public pages reachable by URL. The steps below address the specific case where full-page capture stops early.
Capture a long page with a taller viewport
- Install the html.to.design browser extension if it is not already installed.
- Open the target webpage in Chrome, then open Developer Tools.
- Turn on Device Mode with the device toolbar icon.
- In the viewport dimensions, set a very large height. html.to.design’s guide does not prescribe a universal value, so adjust it for the page rather than relying on a fixed number.
- Run the html.to.design extension and choose Capture full page.
- When the extension generates the
.h2dfile, open the html.to.design plugin in Figma and drop the file into it to import the page as editable design layers.
html.to.design says it normally captures a webpage’s full length, but unusual handling of body height, scrolling, or item display can leave the capture showing only what is visible. Increasing the viewport height is the documented workaround for that symptom, not a promise that every page will import completely.
Alternative: import a URL or capture the current browser session
For a public URL
- Open the html.to.design plugin in Figma.
- Choose the Web tab.
- Paste the page URL and select Import.
For a private or session-specific page
Open the page in Chrome in the required state—such as after signing in—and capture it with the extension. Send the result directly to the plugin, or save the .h2d file locally and drop it into the plugin. This route uses the page already open in the browser rather than asking the plugin to load a public URL.

Troubleshoot a capture that is still incomplete
The import contains only the visible area
Check that Device Mode is enabled before capture and that you set a large viewport height. Confirm that you selected Capture full page, then try again. The documented workaround may not resolve every site’s unusual height or scroll behavior.
The page requires a login or is local
Use the extension on the page open in Chrome instead of the plugin’s URL import. If needed, save the capture as a .h2d file and import it by dropping it into the plugin.

The page is public and accessible by URL
Try the plugin’s Web tab and select Import after pasting the URL. If you need the browser’s current session or page state, use the extension route instead.
What to expect from the imported design
html.to.design describes its imports as editable and its feature page discusses overflow scrolling and fixed or sticky elements in prototypes. Those feature descriptions do not establish that every long page, layout, or interactive behavior will be captured perfectly. Review the imported layers in Figma against the original page, especially when the source relies on unusual scrolling or content display behavior.
Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is a screenshot or PDF rather than editable Figma layers, ScreenshotNeo can return a capture from one GET request. Its API accepts a page URL and supports PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF output. See the ScreenshotNeo website and API documentation.

Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key and change the target URL as needed. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. It also has an MCP server so AI agents can take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Frequently Asked Questions
Does the large-viewport workaround guarantee a complete Figma import?
No. html.to.design documents it as a workaround for certain pages that otherwise capture only the visible area; it does not guarantee success on every site.
Can I use html.to.design to import a page that is behind a login?
Yes. Capture the logged-in page open in Chrome with the browser extension, then send the capture to the plugin or import its saved .h2d file.
