You can screenshot a list of URLs from Google Sheets by using Apps Script to send each row’s URL to ApiFlash’s /v1/urltoimage endpoint, then placing the returned image in the row or saving a screenshot link. This is a workflow built from ApiFlash and Google’s documented capabilities; it is not an official ApiFlash Sheets integration. The examples below record a status and any error per row so you can monitor and resume a batch.
What you need before you start
- A Google Sheet with a column of complete webpage URLs, including
https://orhttp://. - A valid ApiFlash access key from your ApiFlash dashboard. Keep it out of cells that other spreadsheet viewers can read.
- An Apps Script project attached to the spreadsheet. Apps Script’s
UrlFetchAppcan make HTTPS requests and read response codes, bytes, and blobs; projects that explicitly define OAuth scopes need thescript.external_requestscope. See Google’s URL Fetch Service reference.
Google’s Apps Script quickstart for Google Sheets describes creating a project and authorizing it on first run. The advanced Sheets service is not needed for the attached-spreadsheet script below.
Set up the sheet
Create a tab named URLs and add these headers in row 1:

Enter one URL per row, starting at row 2. ApiFlash requires the target URL to include its protocol. If you want the sheet to stay compact, use the link-output alternative described below instead of embedding images.

Run the Apps Script to insert screenshots
- In the spreadsheet, open Extensions → Apps Script.
- Paste the code below into the editor and replace
PASTE_YOUR_APIFLASH_ACCESS_KEYwith your key. Keep the project controlled; do not publish the key in a shared cell or log. - Save, select
captureUrls, and click Run. On first run, review and grant the requested permissions. - Return to the sheet. A successful row gets an image anchored in column B and a
OKstatus. Rows with invalid URLs or unsuccessful HTTP responses get a status and error text instead.

}ApiFlash documents GET query parameters and POST form data for https://api.apiflash.com/v1/urltoimage; Apps Script’s URL-fetch service encodes the supplied payload for this GET request. Its default response is image data, which the script converts to a blob. Google documents inserting images from blobs through the Apps Script Sheet reference.
The script intentionally processes rows sequentially, which makes its progress and row-level errors straightforward to inspect. Running it again will capture rows again. For a resumable workflow, add a guard to skip rows whose status is already OK, or clear the status for only the rows you want to retry. This example does not remove previously inserted images when rerun.

Choose image blobs or screenshot links
Insert image blobs for visual review
Inserting the image beside its source URL is convenient when reviewers need to scan the results in the sheet. The trade-off is a visually heavier spreadsheet, especially with full-page captures or many rows.
Store links to keep the sheet lighter
ApiFlash supports response_type=json, which returns a JSON document with screenshot links instead of the image bytes. Change the request options to include response_type: 'json'; after a successful response, parse response.getContentText() with JSON.parse and write the returned screenshot link into a link column. The precise JSON fields should be read from the response you receive and ApiFlash’s API documentation.

Use fixed viewport or full-page capture
The documented default viewport is 1920 × 1080. Set viewport dimensions when you need consistent, comparable captures; use the full_page option when you need the entire page rather than the initial viewport. Full-page images can be substantially taller and make a sheet harder to scan.

Use only settings relevant to the capture. A fixed delay can add time to every row; choosing an appropriate wait condition may avoid waiting longer than necessary. Set cache freshness according to whether repeated captures should reuse a prior result or reflect a newer page.
Run bulk jobs safely and monitor quota
A single script run calls ApiFlash once for each non-empty URL, so large sheets can take time and encounter quotas or transient failures. Break large lists into manageable batches and save each row’s status so you can resume deliberately. ApiFlash documents a leaky-bucket rate of 20 requests per second with a burst size of 400; work above the rate is delayed, while requests beyond the burst can end with HTTP 429. Do not infer a safe Apps Script batch size or retry schedule from those API limits alone.

- Check successful response headers
X-Quota-Limit,X-Quota-Remaining, andX-Quota-Resetto monitor the account quota. ApiFlash also documents a quota endpoint. - ApiFlash says identical requests may use its cache without counting against the monthly quota. The default cache TTL is 86,400 seconds, and the maximum documented TTL is 2,592,000 seconds.
- Failed captures with exactly the same parameters are limited to five attempts per hour. Avoid rapid, repeated retries of an unchanged failing row.
- Record status and error text by row before proceeding with fixes. Retry only rows that need another attempt.
Troubleshooting common failures
