If Versionista alerts are missing, first check whether you expected a scheduled summary or an instant alert: summaries depend on the account schedule and whether changes were detected, while instant alerts must be enabled separately for each monitored page. Then check recipient settings and Versionista’s email history to distinguish an alert that was never recorded as sent from one that may be missing in your mailbox.
1. Identify which Versionista email you expected
Versionista has two kinds of change notifications, and they have different triggers and settings: summary emails and instant alerts. The official Versionista email-alert guide describes both.
- Summary email: A scheduled report that gathers detected changes across monitored pages. It is daily by default, but the frequency can be changed.
- Instant alert: An email intended to report a detected change on an individual monitored page. It is controlled from that page’s Crawl settings and is off by default.
If you were expecting news about a newly discovered URL, distinguish that from a change alert: discovery and inclusion of new pages in reports are not the same as monitoring that page for subsequent changes. See Versionista’s official new-page alert tutorial for its explanation of newly found pages.
2. Fix a missing summary email
Check the schedule and no-change setting
Open Versionista’s Account Settings and review the summary preferences. Confirm that the report frequency matches when you expected an email. Daily is the default, but the account can use a different frequency.

Also check whether Versionista is configured to send a summary when no changes were detected. By default, it does not send a summary for a period with no detected changes in the prior 24 hours. That means an empty inbox may be expected if there was no change during the reporting period, rather than evidence of a delivery failure. Enable summaries for no-change periods if you want a regular email even when nothing changed.
Review what the summary includes
Account preferences also control whether newly found pages are listed in summaries. Summary links lead to comparison views; Versionista says those links are temporarily public for one week. Consider that visibility when forwarding or sharing a report link.

3. Fix a missing instant alert
- Open the affected monitored page in Versionista.
- Go to that page’s Crawl area or settings.
- Find the instant-alert control and turn it on for that page. Instant alerts are off by default, and enabling them for one page does not establish that they are enabled for every other page.
- In Account Settings, review the alert-body preference. Versionista offers text changes, text and HTML changes, or filtered changes for the email body.
Instant alerts are intended to report a detected change and include changed content in the email. If no change was detected, there may be no instant alert to receive. For a new URL discovered during crawling, check the new-page reporting behavior separately rather than treating its discovery as a change to an already monitored page.
4. Check recipients and report filters
In Account Settings, confirm that the intended recipient is added and included for the report type you expect. Versionista says added users generally receive the main account’s summary and instant-alert emails by default, but account-level configuration can narrow delivery.
Rank #3
- Check any report scope or recipient controls for site folders.
- Check filters for page categories that might exclude the affected page.
- Verify the recipient email address and that the expected user is included for the relevant reports.
5. Use Versionista’s email history to locate the failure
Account Settings links to an email history showing messages Versionista says it has sent. Look for the expected message and recipient there.
- Message is absent from history: Recheck the summary schedule and no-change preference, or the affected page’s instant-alert setting. Then verify recipients and report filters. The service history does not show that the expected message was recorded as sent.
- Message appears in history but is not in the mailbox: The history is evidence of Versionista’s send record, not proof the email reached the inbox. Check spam and quarantine folders, forwarding, and mailbox filtering rules. If it remains missing, ask Versionista support for its current sending address and delivery guidance.
Versionista’s public guide does not publish a sender address, SPF/DKIM/DMARC instructions, an allowlist domain, or provider-specific steps for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and other mail systems. Do not allowlist a guessed address or domain; obtain current details from Versionista support.

6. Account status: migration is not a fix requirement
Versionista’s homepage says the service is part of the Fluxguard family, new accounts are available through Fluxguard, and existing Versionista accounts remain supported with no changes required. It does not say existing users must migrate to resolve missing alerts.
