To loop a prerecorded webinar as a YouTube Live stream, play the video in OBS Studio using a Media Source with Loop enabled, send OBS’s output to a stream you create in YouTube Studio, then preview and start the event in Live Control Room. The recording will repeat in the encoder; it does not become a newly performed or interactive webinar.
Before you schedule the stream
Check that the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so confirm access well before the customer event. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance.
Confirm rights and policy compliance
YouTube says live content must follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Its livestream terms also require the provider to have the necessary rights to use the content on Google services. Check every element of the recording, including guest appearances, slides, music, demonstrations, and third-party clips. A recording that was cleared for an internal or on-demand presentation is not automatically cleared for a public live broadcast.
Choose the event length with archiving in mind
YouTube says it can automatically archive streams under 12 hours; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep your own local copy if you need a dependable archive. The available guidance does not establish that one live event can run indefinitely, so verify current YouTube controls before promising an all-day or continuous broadcast. Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio

Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.

Create an encoder stream, or schedule one for the customer event. Scheduling gives you an event watch page to prepare and promote.

Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room. YouTube describes the stream key as a password and address for your stream: do not share it publicly, and reset it if you think it has been exposed.
YouTube’s encoder setup steps are in Get started with live streaming. Keep the Live Control Room open for the preview and event controls.

Set up the webinar loop in OBS Studio

Open OBS and select the scene you want to use for the event.

In the Sources panel, select +, choose Media Source, and create a new source.

Choose the local webinar file. OBS documents common formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM; if the file does not play correctly, check OBS’s current documentation and test the file before the event.

Turn on Loop in the Media Source properties. Loop is off by default; with it enabled, playback starts again when the file reaches its end.

Check the OBS preview for framing and sound. If you add an opening slate, logo, support details, or a call to action, make sure it does not obscure the webinar or suggest that a person is responding live when the content is prerecorded.

Connect OBS, preview, and start the event

In OBS, open Settings and then Stream.

Select YouTube as the service if it is available. Otherwise, enter the server URL and stream key copied from Live Control Room.

Apply the settings, then select Start Streaming in OBS. This sends the webinar output to YouTube; it does not by itself start a scheduled public event.

In Live Control Room, wait for the preview. Confirm that the picture and audio are correct, then use the event’s Go Live control to start the scheduled stream. For an unscheduled stream, use the applicable Go Live control after checking the preview.

Check the event watch page and, where practical, a phone or other viewing device to confirm what customers see and hear.
Monitor the broadcast and plan how to stop
Keep an eye on the stream’s picture and sound throughout the event. YouTube recommends upload capacity 20% above the total stream bitrate. For example, if the outgoing stream uses 6 Mbps, aim for at least 7.2 Mbps of available upload bandwidth, with additional headroom if other devices or services share the connection. This is YouTube guidance, not a guarantee that a connection will remain stable.
When the event is over, end the live event using the controls in Live Control Room, then stop streaming in OBS. Keep the local webinar file and, if needed, a separate local recording rather than relying on YouTube to preserve a stream longer than 12 hours.

Troubleshoot common problems

The stream option is unavailable: Check channel verification and live-stream restrictions. If this is the channel’s first live stream, activation may take up to 24 hours.

The webinar stops at the end instead of repeating: Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop; the setting is off by default.

YouTube shows no incoming video: Confirm OBS is streaming, the service/server URL is correct, and the stream key matches the one in Live Control Room. Keep the key private; reset it if compromised.

There is no sound or the wrong audio is playing: Check the OBS preview and audio meters before going live, and verify the selected media source and scene. Confirm the result in YouTube’s preview before starting the event.

The preview stutters or disconnects: Check available upload bandwidth against the stream’s total bitrate, including YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Reduce competing network use or adjust the encoder output if the connection cannot sustain it.

You need a complete saved archive: Do not assume YouTube will capture an event exceeding 12 hours. Preserve a local copy, or plan a shorter event if a YouTube archive is essential.
