For the weekend of October 3–4, 2026, build a Dallas plan around one confirmed event and a brunch that fits its timing and location. The strongest listed options are Autumn at the Arboretum, the State Fair of Texas, and—if its schedule is confirmed—Hunky’s Sunday drag brunch. Listings can change, so check event status, hours, tickets, menus, reservations, and transportation with the organizers and venue before you go.
Choose the event before you choose brunch
Visit Dallas asks, “With so many things to do in Dallas, how do you choose what to do?” A manageable answer is to start with a dated event listing, confirm it directly, then select brunch based on where the event is and when it begins. The options below are for October 3–4, 2026, in Dallas; the available listings do not establish a complete brunch comparison or current event pricing.
For a seasonal outdoor outing: Autumn at the Arboretum
Visit Dallas lists Autumn at the Arboretum for September 19 through November 1, 2026, at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, 8525 Garland Road. That makes it a weekend option if you want a garden visit rather than a stadium or festival crowd. Confirm opening hours, admission, and any date-specific details with the Arboretum before setting a brunch time. Because it is an outdoor plan, check the forecast again before leaving.
For a full-day fair: State Fair of Texas
Visit Dallas lists the State Fair of Texas at Fair Park from September 25 through October 18, 2026. It is a fit if you want a larger outing and are comfortable making the fair itself the main event of the day. The listing does not establish current admission prices, hours, or operating details; verify them with the Fair before traveling.

For a one-day festival: Latinidad Festival
Visit Dallas’s weekend-picks page lists Latinidad Festival on October 3, 2026, at 2389 Flora Street, and described it as underway on October 3. As that status is time-sensitive, confirm that the event is still operating, along with its schedule and admission, with the organizer before heading there.
Other October dates to consider
Visit Dallas’s October guide also lists Red River Rivalry at Cotton Bowl Stadium on October 11, Dallas Soul Food Festival on October 18, and Halloween Block Party on October 24. These fall outside the October 3–4 weekend, but may help if you are planning a later outing. Recheck each date, location, ticket status, and event details with its organizer.

Pair brunch with your event schedule
Sunday option: Hunky’s drag brunch on Cedar Springs
Discover Gay Dallas lists Hunky’s Drag Brunch at Hunky’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers, 4000 Cedar Springs Road, on Sundays at 11 a.m. The listing describes burgers, bottomless mimosas, and drag performances, and recommends reservations. Its displayed upcoming dates lag behind October 3, 2026, so confirm the current Sunday schedule, reservation availability, admission, and age requirements directly with the venue. This is a Sunday option for October 4 only if the venue confirms it is happening.
Make the timing work
- For an event with a set start time, confirm brunch seating duration and the route to the venue before booking.
- For the Arboretum or State Fair, check whether you would rather eat beforehand or make food at the destination part of the outing; the listings do not establish brunch hours or menus at nearby restaurants.
- For Saturday’s Latinidad Festival, the Sunday Hunky’s listing does not pair with the same day. Choose a Saturday brunch only after confirming a restaurant’s hours and location independently.
Check the practical details before you commit
Event calendars are useful for choosing what to investigate, not a substitute for current operating information. Visit Dallas’s event directory links to weekend picks, annual events, free and family events, seasonal events, and live music. Its weekend picks include concerts, nightlife, exhibits, and more. Use the listing to find possibilities, then verify the details that determine whether the plan works.

Keep a backup that still fits the day
If an event is sold out, canceled, weather-affected, or simply not your kind of outing, return to the Visit Dallas calendar and look at its other event categories rather than committing to a stale listing. For a garden or fair visit, decide on an indoor alternative before leaving if weather is uncertain. For brunch, do not assume another restaurant has the same hours or reservation availability; check directly before you reroute.
Schedule note: Listings and venue details checked against Visit Dallas and Discover Gay Dallas information for October 3, 2026. Confirm all current details with the event organizer or restaurant before travel.
