A Popular Science sponsored article published October 2, 2026, advertised Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019 for Windows for $16.97 as a one-time license for one PC. But Microsoft says Office 2019 support ended October 14, 2025, and connections from Office 2019 to Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online and SharePoint Online have been unsupported since October 2023. The advertised license may suit someone seeking basic desktop apps on one Windows PC, but it does not recreate Microsoft 365’s cloud services or supported status.
What the $17 offer says it includes
The sponsored Popular Science / Stack Commerce offer article identifies the product as Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019 for Windows. It advertises a one-time license for one Windows PC and names Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, and Access. Teams is expressly excluded.
The article says the license is tied to the computer, supports Windows 10 or 11, and requires 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of storage, with a 1280 × 800 display recommended. It also claims support for every language, updates, and customer service. These are the offer article’s claims, not independently confirmed license documentation; its detailed activation, transfer, and refund terms are not established.
Price, deadline, and what “lifetime” means
The sponsored article states a $16.97 price, a $229 regular price, and an offer deadline of October 4, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT. Those are promotional claims from the article, not a verified checkout price or confirmation that the offer remains available. The seller’s full license terms were not independently established.
“Lifetime” describes the license duration as the seller advertises it; it does not mean Microsoft will support Office 2019 indefinitely. Microsoft says Office 2019 support ended October 14, 2025. Its lifecycle table lists October 15, 2025, as the extended-support end date, while Microsoft’s consumer and enterprise support pages state October 14. Either way, Office 2019 is out of support. How it differs from Microsoft 365
Microsoft describes one-time-purchase Office as desktop apps for a single PC or Mac, without Microsoft 365 cloud-backed features and services such as OneDrive, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online. Office 2019 connections to Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online and SharePoint Online, have not been supported since October 2023. Microsoft’s comparison page listed Microsoft 365 Personal at $99.99 on the page accessed October 3, 2026, and described access across up to five computers, tablets, or mobile devices. That is a time-sensitive U.S. page price and benefit, not a universal or permanent price. The advertised Office 2019 offer, by contrast, is for one Windows PC and does not include Microsoft 365 services.
