Project Afterfall is scheduled to leave Early Access and launch as Version 1.0 on November 3, 2026. As of October 3, Steam still lists the game as Early Access. The developer also warns that existing saves will break when the update arrives.

When does Project Afterfall fully release?

The planned Version 1.0 launch date is November 3, 2026. The date appears on the Steam store page, and the developer’s September 2026 announcement says, “Project Afterfall launches into Version 1.0 on November 3rd!” RPGamer independently reported the same date on October 2, 2026: RPGamer’s report.

That date is still upcoming as of October 3, 2026; it is a scheduled release, not a confirmation that Version 1.0 is already available.

Is Project Afterfall still in Early Access?

Yes. Steam labels Project Afterfall as an Early Access game at the time of writing and lists November 3, 2026 as its planned departure from Early Access. The announcement calls Update 9 the final Early Access update, with the Gold build intended to add a refreshed tutorial, further quality-of-life improvements and final polish.

What kind of game is Project Afterfall?

MuHa Games describes it as a dark, turn-based strategy-survival RPG set in the world of Thea, mixing retro-futuristic urban fantasy with Slavic folklore. Steam places it in the universe of Thea: The Awakening and Thea 2: The Shattering, about a thousand years later in a different, urban age. See the official MuHa Games page for the game’s description.

Its announced systems include creating a hero, recruiting non-player characters, exploring wastelands, gathering resources, rebuilding a colony, crafting, branching narrative, character progression and card-based tactical combat. Steam lists single-player and online co-op for PC. The announcement and store information cited here do not establish a console version.

What changes are announced for Version 1.0?

The developer’s Update 9 announcement describes changes to the card system and decks, including simplified mechanics, new effects and a larger card selection. It also lists 41 Steam achievements, Steam Cloud Saves, new graphics settings, improved quest tracking, fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

Those Update 9 details and the separate Gold-build plans should not be treated as a complete, guaranteed launch feature list: the announcement describes a refreshed tutorial and more polish for Version 1.0, but the available information does not provide a full version-by-version comparison or confirm every planned improvement’s final state.

Will your Early Access save carry over?

No. The developer announcement explicitly warns, “Please Note: Old saves will break!” Players who want to finish a run on the previous version are directed in that announcement to Steam’s Properties → Betas menu and the top branch. This is announcement-era guidance, so check the current Steam options and developer instructions before changing branches.

Should you play now or wait for Version 1.0?

The choice depends mainly on whether you are comfortable playing an Early Access build and potentially losing save continuity at the 1.0 update, or would rather begin after the planned launch. If you are interested in the announced card-combat changes, refreshed tutorial or co-op, waiting lets you assess the released version rather than rely on plans. Steam lists online co-op, but the information available here does not establish further details about how co-op works.
