The items come from outside reports curated by Apple World Today; several remain rumors or claims attributed to their original sources.
Beaumont ISD plans a four-year Apple device lease
The Beaumont Independent School District in Texas approved a four-year lease covering 14,585 Apple devices, expected to cost about $11.19 million in total, or roughly $2.8 million per year, according to the Beaumont Enterprise in 2026.
| Planned devices | Quantity | Intended users |
|---|---|---|
| iPads | 4,085 | Pre-K through grade 2 |
| MacBook Neo laptops | 9,500 | Students in grades 3–12 |
| MacBook Neo laptops | 1,000 | Teachers |
The newspaper reported that district figures showed 63% of its devices had passed their recommended lifecycle and that device support had cost $469,576. Those are district-reported figures, not an independent audit. Administrators said they considered the four-year total cost, residual value and buyback, repairs, warranties, device management, and financial stewardship. They compared the MacBook Neo with Lenovo and Asus options for older students. The decision is specific to the district’s procurement needs, not a general recommendation for individual buyers.
Apple executive describes a replaceable folding-display layer
Apple vice president of Hardware Engineering Kate Bergeron told 9to5Mac that the iPhone Duo’s folding display has a replaceable cover layer above its matte coating. Bergeron said the coating helps minimize the crease and that Apple engineered the layer to last; a customer can peel it off and replace it. This is her technical description as reported by 9to5Mac, not an independent durability test.

Apple’s home hub remains a rumor
Two linked commentaries speculate about an unannounced Apple home device. Macworld says the rumored square display could be smaller than some expectations and cautions that many circulating renderings may be inaccurate. Cult of Mac suggests it might also serve as a digital photo frame alongside smart-speaker and display functions. Neither account establishes announced Apple specifications: see Macworld and Cult of Mac.
