A Nerd’s Chalk APK teardown listing dated October 2, 2026, describes a prospective “Delete backup” choice and a warning about messages and settings that remain unrestored.
What the reported option would do
The report describes a possible choice in the Google Messages restore flow: proceed with restoring a backup, or select “Delete backup.” It also says a warning on the final day would address messages and settings that had not been restored. The listing does not provide the warning’s exact wording.
This is an APK teardown report, not a Google announcement. The label may reflect text found in app code rather than confirmed interface copy, and there is no evidence in the listing that users can access the control now.
What remains unknown
- What gets deleted: The listing does not establish whether “backup” means a cloud copy, a local copy, or another stored item, or define the deletion’s scope.
- What happens to unrestored content: The reported warning concerns messages and settings left unrestored, but the listing does not explain their fate or whether they can be recovered.
- Availability: No app version, Android version, eligible devices, region, or rollout date is identified.
Should you choose deletion or restoration?
The report does not provide enough information to recommend either path. It does not explain the consequences of deleting the backup, whether deletion is reversible, or what data would remain available afterward. Until Google confirms the feature and its behavior, treat “Delete backup” as a reported possibility—not an option to rely on when planning a restore.
