Short answer: Cerence Operating Company sued Apple in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas on September 4, 2025, alleging patent infringement. The docket records motions, amended pleadings and counterclaims, but no ruling establishing infringement or invalidity. Cerence reported in a Form 10-Q filed August 6, 2026, that the complaint was “presently stayed.” The filing does not explain the stay’s reason or terms.
What the lawsuit is

The reviewed docket listing contains entries only through February 6, 2026. It therefore cannot confirm whether the June 2026 hearing occurred or whether the 2027 trial date changed. The latest date-bound status in the supplied company disclosure is Cerence’s August 6, 2026 statement that the case was presently stayed. The current court order remains the authoritative source for the stay.

What “stayed” means here
A stay generally pauses some or all proceedings. It does not by itself decide whether a patent is valid, whether Apple infringed, or whether Cerence is entitled to damages. The Form 10-Q excerpt does not identify the issuing order, scope, duration or conditions of this stay, so those details should not be inferred.
